Well the time has come to finally add a sliding glass rear window. I have the integrated defroster version in mine. No Big deal, rather have the functional window.
Couple of questions

1)Does GM have a set up they sell and if so, is it any good and is the price worth it.

2) Who makes a GOOD aftermarket set up (I am leaning this way as GM's set up has to be marked up ridiculously)

Appreciate the input

Jeff

I ordered my truck with one....Probably the only thing smart I did last year :o: DD - most of the glass companies in this area offer one for the 01 truck (I was going to put one in my 01 2500hd, but decided to trade it off) Talk to a few of the installers if you can to get their impression of their fit, finish, and quality...GM didn't have a kit a few years ago when I worked there....Since you can order a truck with one again, that might have changed...
It sure is nice to have it open along with the back windows..I rarely use the AC even in the summer..

GM has one, but it is really uncommon.

The "chain of options" for getting it is really weird.

To get the sliding rear window you need to get trailering, but it also
comes with rear privacy glass. Trailering has loads of other specific
parts, and usually implies the D/A combo.

When I ordered my truck, I specified the rear window, the "provision
for 5th wheel" and the HDPP, and a crew cab. The rest came as
I had hoped based on those very few selections.

Thanks for the feedback. I know in 01 it was not an option as I had asked when I ordered my truck with the trailer/camper package and the dual alternator. I did not order the back glass with the defroster however it came with it when I ordered JUST the CD player and not the CD/Cassette dealio. "Kind of weird". When I asked the dealer they just shook their heads and said "Dunno Probably all they had laying around at the time. I wanted the slider for a camper and to throw "Soda" cans in the bed when driving rather than over the top of Crew Cab:lol:

Now I am out on my own attempting to find a good unit.

Here is another couple of question to people that actually have them?

1) Which do you prefer more...The dual sliding or a single? I see where some have dual little windows and others have full sized.

2) Any brand to stay away from?

Again thanks for the feedback.

I've had both the single slider and the dual-small window..I like the single window better (seems to fit better, in my opinion)

Man, Those power sliders look pretty slick.

Nice touch. Just like rolling a window up and down.

I hate to even mention it, as it doesn't really help any, but here goes. Toyota was brilliant to market the power up/down rear window. Why didn't GM do that?!? :confuzeld

tysmith,
You bet...That option would be so nice. Even if it was a $250 dollar option I would have done it.

Oh Well

I found that power window at JP customs but it's $450 That's a lot of cash to get a power sliding rear window imo

i like the power roll down window option as well. or even make it like the avalanche as we could take it out and stow it behind the seat back.
