Well im on my first tank, and allready noticed that my engine is running very quiet, and my garage doesnt stink in the mornings. Question is. Is the extra 5 cents a gallon worth it?

Only 5 pennies more per gallon for B20.....I think you answered your own question.

what will I gain with b20 though? I have read some about better lubricity, anything else?

If large numbers of us ante up the few cents per gallon for B20 or more, we'll put a dent in this country's dependence on foreign oil. Good for security & price stability long-haul. Who knows how much of that reduction might translate into saving life & limb for one or more of our troops in harm's way.

Slightly lower emissions for our grandchildren's sake.

Win-win small sacrifice. Just my $02. :grd:

...Win-win small sacrifice. Just my $02...Shouldn't that be your "$0.05" (per gallon)? ):h :joke:

Anyway, I noticed a reduction in injection noise with the B5 soydiesel blend. Weird, Huh?
Oh yes Biodiesel = A win for everyone (except OPEC!)

The engineer types I've talked to say that a small amount of biodiesel actually helps catalyze combustion, and leads to smoother burn and better fuel mileage. In larger amounts mileage may go down slightly because biodiesel has somewhat fewer BTUs of energy per gallon. Still worth it.

My $05./gal.

Has anyone ever encountered any issues with water in b20?

The main benefit...and it is a biggie is lubricity.

It is the biggest issue because of the lack of sulfur in the fuel..ULSD...which is already in Southern California...coming to a pump near you.

The additives put in by the refiners are insufficent...by Bosch's standards for our trucks.

B05 will not cut it as the sulfur is removed. B05 is a good choice for lubricity if your Diesel has got the higher sulfur..but with ULSD..it is probably not enough.

This is based on a lubricity measurement Catepillar(I have got that reference somewhere) did when they looked at adding biodiesel to the national diesel and then to California diesel which had lower sulfur.

For the national diesel B05 showed improvements...Only at B20 and above did the California diesel show improvements.

Remember...lack of lubricity or dirty fuel is the same as far as wear goes to our trucks.

So hopefully, B20 plus the additives refineres put into the ULSD will be good.

Now wrt water....a lot has been said...but since Bio is very hydroscopic...handling is the key issue. My B20 that I tested came in at 120ppm water...again entrained water is not a problem...I guess if it was 1000ppm then maybe but if that was B100 then maybe not because it has such high lubricity.
They key issue with either fuel is that a slug of water will kill the injectors...that is why some people lock up the water in the fuel with the emulsifiers and run it through..without problems. A slug of water sitting in your water separator because it was demulsified..if sucked into your injectors could spell death.
