OK again this is on my 2005.....

I've decided to do a fluid change on my allison by pulling the drain plug and draining (7.5qt's right?) it.

Replacing what fluid is lost with the transyn and a new allison filter.

I don't want to do the hoot method so this is the next best thing right?

Ok the truck has like 54k miles on it so this is what maintenance I should be doing to it right now correct?

**main question I have...at 54k miles should I or should I not drop the pan and replace the internal filter?????? this is what I'm unclear on.

I bought the truck used by guy who didn't pull anything or I assume he didn't he wasn't a farmer or nothing just a city guy that wanted a big truck. Myself...I've pulled a cattle/horse tailor maybe 3 times since I've had it but I don't have cows or horses anymore. Now, all I ever tow is my 19.5ft bass boat. So, the truck has never really seen extreme loads and shouldn't from now on.

thanks!

I wouldn't drop the pan. I change my screw on filter once in a while, kind of depends how I've been using the truck. About 50,000 I change the fluid the same way you just did. I have over 117,000 miles so far with no transmission problems (other than those damn cooling lines, what idiot makes those things?)

thanks, my tranny is a 1000 right? thats what I selected.

they seem to say don't change the interal unless ur tearing into it for an over-haul.

what I don't know is does mine have a Lube/Auxiliary Filter or not because they said if it does to replace it at 50k.

thanks and for u guys changing the spin on every oil change or every other thats a waste they recommend every 50k
