Hey guy's, I just want to be sure before I do this. Am I correct in thinking that the heater/vent controls do not need the vac pump to opperate properly? I know I sort of asked this on another post, but I just want to be sure. If so, how do they work? I was alway's under the impresion that those were all vac lines under the dash.
The heating controls are not regulated by the vac pump, I believe they are electric.
I have same year truck and just happily removed pump, go for it it's worth it.

With the body style of your 98 K3500 (around 1995 for sure maybe back to the 1988 designed body) the A/C Heater control went electric, thank goodness, and the older Vacuum style, like your 85, went away. Now there are some of the older body style truck up to 89 I believe that would have had the Vacuum controls too.

Let us know how difficult to was to remove. I am using a turbomaster and the Vaccum pump is just draging on the motor, Would like to get it off. What belt do I go to?
Thanks

I was wondering the same thing. Does anyone have a part # for a shorter belt to bypass the vac pump once removed?
You need a 061000 belt, I bought it at Autozone and it's number 4061000.
VP has 3 10mm bolts, 2 visible from top 3rd one hidden you have to look from underneath truck.
Use a deep well socket through the holes on front of pulley.
