After getting tired of hearing the seatbelt ding when not wearing the seatbelt I disconnected the wire to the seatbelt. I talked with Max Power and he said try unhooking it and see what happens. I did and it works great (or in this case does not work) To disconnect it I had to reach between the seat and the center console close the the seatbelt latch and there was a disconnect there. You will know it is the correct set of wires as they are the wires coming from the seatbelt latch. There is already a quick disconnect plug in the wire so reconnecting later is easy.
Anyone else done this? Any problems? I have been running mine this way for about 3 weeks with no problems.

Good deal. Another cheap easy mod.
I am not familiar with how the Airbag system works but I do have one concern. I'm not sure if the air bags deploy only if the seat belt is plugged in. If that is the case, the air bags would now deploy even when the seat belt is not plugged in. This may not be the case but it is something you should be aware of.

Good point on the seatbelt deployment Max Power. After doing a little research here is what I have found on the issue.
When the seatbelt is used, the airbag will deploy only at the higher crash severity, when the device is most effective. If the seatbelt is not used, the bag will deploy softly and more slowly, to protect passengers from injury.
So it looks like in either case it will deploy however when and at what speed it deploys is based on the severity of the crash and the speed of the vehicle at the time of impact.

b_gable........I don't know where you got your information.....but an air bag does not know if the seatbelt is buckled......therefore it will deploy with the same force wether you are buckled are not......the sensors for the airbags are in the front end of the vehicle.........air bags are just physically as effective ont eh human body without being belted
Just my two sense........but what why would you not where a seatbelt

Why would they have an airbag disable on the drivers side? Passanger's side maybe.

did that also kill the little red guy in the inst cluster from coming on or flashing ?
I wouldn't mind disconnecting the wires but you never catch me without my belt in use. Picked up too many that dont wear them..... course that could go to the "DARWIN" effect ?! Always buckle up :ro) !!!!!! Billy

Yes it does turn of the little flashing red guy on the instrument cluster.
Fireguy based on the information I obtained the TCM controls the firing of the airbag. It deploys the airbag based on the information that it has. What I found was if it thinks the seatbelt is used (and it would think that it is if the wire is disconnected) the it takes a higher speed to set it off and it will deploy with more force. If it thinks the seatbelt is not being used (wire not disconnected and seat belt not buckled up) then it will deploy at a slower speed but with less force to deploy it.
I never said that it disables the airbag altogether not sure where that came from.
I generally do wear my seatbelt however there are a couple of times a month where I am in and out of the vehicle every couple hundred yards so I do not wear it then. I hate hearing the dinging in this case. It becomes very annoying. Notice in the original post I said "After getting tired of hearing the seatbelt ding when not wearing the seatbelt I disconnected the wire to the seatbelt." meaning there are a few times that I do not use it for instance when riding the fence row and doing repairs. I am in and out constantly in short distances.
Thanks for your concerns though. I agree when on a public road seatbelts should be worn.
