Right now i have a 06 2500hd cc lb diesel. I have recentley recieved a bug up my ass to get a new suv. So i was thinking about a suburban 2500 or a denali xl. To you guys that pull with these vehicles or even just with the 6.0, how are they. I pull my 27ft (About 6000lb fully loaded) boat all the time and concerned coming out of my truck that i will regret getting something else when it comes to towing. So please give me your advice, stories or thoughts.

Just came back from a weekend camping trip With my 6.0 pulling my 27ft TT. Had a '06 Duramax, obviously not the same, but The new truck did well. Pulled hills nicely, did about 65-70 on the flats, and averaged about 10 mpg. Overall I'm very happy with it.

I have a 27' TT also. Mine weights in right about 7500 lbs. How much does your trailer weight?

I Have only towed it on short trips and never on the interstate. Towing it on rural highways I get under 9mpg.

Right now, I only make one long distance trip a year. We go from Central Florida up to Talladega Al, for the NASCAR race in the spring, so it will be a little while until I can see how this rigs really does on a long trip.

The 6.0 is capable of a lot except for economy. My dad's 2500HD will tow around 15,000 on a gooseneck. It struggles some, but it does it. But it will only get average of 7 MPG doing it.

Empty he gets around 11 I think. I haven't heard what he gets lately. I think it was too depressing so he ignores it now and just drives it.

Not sure how it will do in a SUV. My POS 4.2L in my Trailblazer only gets me around 13 in town and 18 tops on the highway. I am not pleased with that at all. If I wouldn't lose my @$$ on the Trailblazer, I would love to trade it in on a Suburban.

I bought a Suburban with the 5.3. I love the ride and the economy but would not use it as my primary haul vehicle. It just does not compare to the LB7.
I had a 3500 with the 8.1 and it came pretty close to the Diesel except the fuel economy. You just can't beat the diesels!
