I have a stock LBZ with just a MBRP cool duals exhuast system and a lb7 catless downpipe. If i put a Banks SIx Gun with the power PDA will it produce noticably more smoke than stock??

You can make it by changing the accelerator pump setting to 200% in the six gun tuning.

Like stated above if you up the accelerator pump up to 200% you will get a puff at take off, and if you put it in tow haul mode and keep it right about 40 you can leave a good stream of smoke.

My Six Gun w/SL set on level 5 smokes for just a few seconds before the motor gets on some good boost. It is more smoke than stock for sure. It cleans up quick. I feel it's the best of both worlds. Lets everyone know you are on it, but no insane smoke screen.......

I just don't understand why someone would want their truck to smoke a lot. If you see a truck bellowing out black smoke it means they are A: wasting fuel and B: have a crappy tune. Period. A lot of black smoke does not mean a lot of power.

Alot of black smoke doesnt mean very little power either. PPEs race tune smokes quite a bit and its a great tune. And all the really fast trucks usually put out some smoke. Plus being able to have smoke on command is kinda fun i think.

I didn't say a lot of smoke means little power. There are trucks (in fact, most of them) making lots of power with lots of smoke. My point is it's a waste of fuel and a shitty tune. PPE's race tune may make lots of power but technically the tune could be cleaned up a lot, make the same amount of power or possibly more, and hardly smoke. I'm sure PPE wrote the program this way on purpose because there are so many who like the extra smoke. Start paying attention to the fastest trucks and you'll start seeing them put out less and less smoke while their times continue to improve.
I do agree with you, though. I think the smoke on command trick is cool but I wouldn't do it to my truck.

Mr. Banks does not want smoke & will not have smoke. That is how they design theit tunes. They want to promote clean diesel technology.

Ya your right on that real sloppy tunes often smoke excessivley and the real fast trucks clean up real quick because of the great tuning in them. Your probbaly right too about PPE putting in some extra smoke for the people that like it. I wish there was a little dial that could be installed to control the smoke. So say you did want some you could just dial it up and blow smoke

Or maybe its because there running big injectors with a real big turbo pushing a whole lot of fuel and air. Some like to race and some tow and some just use them to get back and fourth from work. If I wanted my old Banks back I would just trade in my truck for a used Geo metro.

So does your truck smoke?

I guarantee it smokes it has twin cp3's, EFI Live, and 40hp injectors (and yes I saw it has twin turbos).

Is there any way to tune it so it: does not smoke, makes more power, and is reliable?

Why do so many of these high power diesels that I see, smoke? Isn't that just a sign of the engine running excessively rich, i.e not an ideal tune for horsepower?

my dad has a 6 gun in his 07 LBZ..not a hint of smoke...he also hates the 6 gun just tap the throttle and it triggers the SES light..he's recently put my old Power Pup in with no problems and its faster now too no slam on banks i just dont think their product is up to par with other tuners....i've walked on banks powered trucks constantly with my LMM with PPE
