Last night we found out our scales (Weight-Tronics) that are over 20 years old, crapped out.
We might be able to fix them, but we are wondering if it's foolish to spend $1000 on "old technology".
What do most of you guys use at your pulls to weigh trucks. Does your club own them or do you rent them?
The way our current setup is we have 4 sensors mounted to the underside of a trailer. We pop the axle out and set the sensors on level ground (with wood shimming) and we weigh trucks. If we don't get the scales fixed before next Friday (our next pull), we may have to resort to using race car scales which will mean driving each truck up on the platform, jacking one axle and placing the wheel scales under each wheel, then doing the same for the other axle. It's doable but TIME CONSUMING.
Does anyone know companies that sell portable scales or know of anyone selling old one's?
Thanks in advance.

Same here in Mich. Contact Dan Nearpass for some scale info he has some Aluminum ones that make them nice and light.
All the racecar ones that I have looked at have a 1500# limit per pad so heavy trucks wont work so well on them.

Thanks guys.
I didn't even consider the weight limit on those race car scales.......
Yes, ideally I would like to purchase (new or used), or make an aluminum scale that would attach to the sled for transport (less trucks we would need to haul equipment). But I may have to get creative for next Friday.

Yeah, i'm pretty sure that most, if not all, of the sleds bring their own scales around here. NOW, some places may also have their own built in scales and those may be used as opposed to the ones from the sled but usually, the scales are with the sled crew.
Sorry I can't be of much help in locating you a new [to you] one. :( Good luck on that.

I work with the owners and operators of the Terminator Sled and can ask them what exactly their scale is if you would like.
All of the sleds around here use the same style. They are very nice and easy to set up.

If you could that would be great.
Our scales are 15+ years old if not 20 or more. They could be mounted on the sled for transport but they are made of heavy steel and lifting and lowering them is a PITA. That and the combined weight of the sled and scales would make it even harder to load on a dropdeck trailer.
If things go well and we have enough $$ at the end of the season, I would like to build a nice set out of aluminum that could be easily lifted and set on the sled rails.......
I'm just looking for alternatives to get us through the season for now.

Ill ask them what they use. For all I know the place where I work built them in the manufacturing department.
But Ill stil check for you.
