Anyone out there ever use one of those 12v winches that mount to your hitch ball? The ones I've seen have about a 6k rolling load capability and they can store easily until you need it. My only interest is I get myself into some hairy situations with my truck in the woods in snow and mud (jobsites) and I'm thinking I could winch myself out after getting stuck. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

I was going to put that setup on my 96 GMC 4X4. Looked like a good idea. Sometime you might want to get out from the back bumper. I just kept a snatch cord with me. We always went out in two trucks incase something happened. There’s safety in numbers.
Watch out for the deep mud holes. People will throw all kinds of stuff in them to get themselves out, and leave it in there to mess your truck up.
As for job site I‘ve pulled and been pulled out with the snatch cord. Call someone that owns a Dodge. They love that.
Yes I have pulled some Dodges out. Stuff happing.
We don’t deal too much with snow down here. We let the Yankees have the roads to smash their SUV up, because they know how to drive in snow. :D

Used one to drag a couple of 2k lbs logs once. worked OK. They bounce around a lot (hanging off hitch).
