Just got an 05 6speed 3500 Extended cab and chasis. Put a steel bed on it and the fumes are unbearable because of the exhaust coming out in front of the axle. I am going to get a pipe run out behind the tire and was thinking of getting the muffler and cat chopped off. I have never owned a diesel without a straight pipe.

yes you can. people have done it and love it.

removing the muffler alone does nothing for the sound but deepening it slightly, it takes the removal of the cat to do some noise. However you must do the fingerstick mod talked about on this place to do this with out throwing codes.
