Colorado 4.5TOTHEMAX! 08-20-2008, 11:52 PM is this motor going to be avialible in the colorado? DmaxHawk 08-21-2008, 01:52 AM As far as we know, it will only be available in full size pickups and SUVs brianteel 08-21-2008, 08:03 AM should be small enough to fit :-) TOTHEMAX! 08-21-2008, 10:18 AM thanks for the replys. damn that would be a sweet little truck to have. put a 4 inch lift on it and you would have a sweet truck torqueofthetown 08-21-2008, 02:39 PM I'd go the other way.......:D Lower it a bit and have a killer street truck:cool: I'm sure it would fit since the Canyon and H3 can be had with V8's But if the the Colorado gets diesel (oh please, please, please, please) I'd expect it to be in a V6 the 3L range. mitchell87 08-21-2008, 07:42 PM I'm sure the Colorado will not be available with the 4.5L but rather a smaller diesel. Maybe the 2.9L? that is going into Cadillacs? I'm not sure about anything but this is what i have read in magazines and online, but of course it is all speculation. TOTHEMAX! 08-21-2008, 10:57 PM well i wouldnt really care what size diesel would be offered, i just hope they offer one. i really think it would be a sweet ride. KEVINL 08-22-2008, 12:34 AM http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isuzu_D-Max There you go the Colorado uses the Isuzu Dmax platform which is available with a 3.0 turbo diesel just tell GM to pull there head out of there ass ColbyColorado04 08-22-2008, 12:42 AM I would have loved if that was avail in the states. They have it overseas so bring it here. I have seem some vids of those things tricked out.... Lifted, tuned, bad@ss little trucks chevypowa670 08-22-2008, 02:35 PM As far as we know, it will only be available in full size pickups and SUVs have they released anything about the 4.5 in SUV's? A 4.5 in the suburban would be too sick. TOTHEMAX! 08-24-2008, 10:44 PM practical vehicles like the colorado dmax are not allowed here due to certain restrictions. why cant they pull their head out of their asses and let us have these cool vehicles. i really do hate our laws over here! ColbyColorado04 08-24-2008, 10:57 PM I know I would buy (for the wife) a Colorado with a diesel in it.......She loved mine Coly when I Had it and for that thing to have a diesel in it like the ones overseas would be awesome. I would probally buy that over a 1/2 ton with a diesel...... Mainly b/c we have my 3/4 and it would be for ecenomical, fun, her!!!! lol usspeedo 08-26-2008, 04:10 PM Colorado was an Isuzu program and GM bought the entire project. I bet there is a diesel in the international markets but doesn't pass the outrageous U.S. diesel emissions. Going back to the 80's, the Isuzu P'up diesels were decent rides with the manual trans. torqueofthetown 08-26-2008, 05:54 PM Colorado was an Isuzu program and GM bought the entire project. "The Chevrolet (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrolet) Colorado and its counterpart, the GMC (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GMC_%28automobile%29) Canyon, are General Motors (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Motors)' mid-size pickup trucks (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pickup_truck) introduced in 2004 to replace the Chevrolet S-10 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrolet_S-10) and GMC Sonoma (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GMC_Sonoma). Isuzu (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isuzu), which participated in the design the truck, began selling a version of the truck in late 2005 named the "i-Series" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isuzu_i-Series). The Chevrolet Colorado was jointly designed by GM's North American operations, GM's Brazil operations, and Isuzu, based on the GMT355 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GM_GMT_platform#GMT355), itself the basis for the GMT 345-based Hummer H3 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hummer_H3). The vehicles are manufactured and produced at a GM plant in Rayong (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rayong), Thailand (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thailand) and in Shreveport, Louisiana (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shreveport_Operations)." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrolet_Colorado Correct, there is a diesel available in this truck outside the US:( I would definately own one if it came with a diesel. BIGR 10-02-2008, 12:21 AM A 2.9L Diesel in a smaller truck would be a fuel mileage queen. Be nice to have one that could get better than 30 MPG. DmaxTDI 10-02-2008, 11:36 AM A 2.9L Diesel in a smaller truck would be a fuel mileage queen. Be nice to have one that could get better than 30 MPG. The big three don't seem to be financially positioned for quick changes these days. Maybe a foreign built vehicle? Maybe the Mahindra will be the closest and quickest available? fish91 10-04-2008, 08:06 AM A 4.5 Diesel Colorado, GM would sell a million. A 14 second or quicker Truck that gets 30mpg and still be usefull unlike SSR,and TrailblazerSS. GM built stupid Trucks like those why not a 4.5 Colorado. I think most of the people by the diesel for the power, just look at everybody's sig very few stock trucks. TheMichiganMan 10-04-2008, 10:57 PM The big three don't seem to be financially positioned for quick changes these days. Maybe a foreign built vehicle? Maybe the Mahindra will be the closest and quickest available? GM just bought 50% of a small diesel engine company from Italy, VM Motori. They already have the goods to make it happen, and GM said they are going to fast-track engines into Saturns and Caddys. It'd be a good bet they could find something for a Colorado.. http://www.vmmotori.it/en/01/00/01/index.jsp http://www.autobloggreen.com/2007/07/17/gm-buying-50-of-diesel-maker-vm-motori/ :ro) | |
