Has anyone else had the problem of there 2006 driver side tail light housing falling out after hitting a bump. Just wanted to make sure everyone knows they did have a problem at the factory with the torque setting to high on the housing screws. The Chevorlet dealers around are replacing them, if you ask about it.

dad took his truck in for the tailgate and the tail light. they fixed the tailgate. the plastic clips that hold the rods on were broke. they said they werent going to fix the tail light because they had no way of telling if we didnt hit it and break it. my dad called bull$hit and i printed off this thread and another thread i found and they are replacing the tail light. weve bought 3 vehicles from this dealer and will never buy one from them again.

They wouldn't replace mine...and how I argued..it is apparent that it was over torqued but because I am over 36k...they wouldn't budge...not sure they would have if I was under 36k.

had mine replaced, no cost
Well, the problem is not limited to the '06 model. I've got an '07 Classic 3500-- two weeks ago I noticed the drivers side tail lamp sticking out... when I looked closer, I could see the plastic clip was broke. I took it in to the dealership expecting to go several rounds with'em. But, they told me they've replaced several of them for the very reason you cited. Anyway, they went ahead and replaced mine with no hassle/cost.
