We are now and authorized Webasto Hot Shot dealer. We have been testing this windshield washer fluid heater since late last summer. I have used heated whipper blades, heated nozzles and about everything that has ever come along to help clean the windshield while driving. Nothing has ever worked as well as the Hot Shot windshield washer fluid heater. Very small and easy to install. Took us about 20-30 minutes to install on our 2004.5 GMC. You hardly even know its thier. We will post picutres of the install in a couple of days. We will have more info up later in the week. Click Here For Video Clip (http://techwebasto.com/images/Video/hot%20shot.swf) The clip will take a bit to load.
We are now offering this units for $179.95 and that includes free shipping with in the US and Canada. You can order it HERE! (http://www.lubricationspecialistllc.com/product_info.php?cPath=43&products_id=183) or give us a call at 888-306-4255.

well, it does make your wash water nice and warm for those cold frosty morings :) No need to get out the frozen hose and get it running before you melt the ice off the winshield.

If youve ever plowed snow you'd know how valuable that would be. I plan on ordering one before next season.

What does it do for caked on Salt? I go though about 2 gallons of washer fluid when plowing. My Duramax put out so much heat on the winsheild. I don't have much problem with winshield icing up. The ice froms around the arms in that black plastic area.

This does not put so much water on that it will crack the glass.

It will clean the salt off very well. Much better than cold washer fluid. It will even take off bugs. I have had this on my truck since late last summer so I have been able to put it it the test. It will even take the wax off the windshield after you go through one of those car washes that spray it on, It will take about 5 or 6 washes before it gets it off but it will do it. If I was not sold on it would not be selling it. I think you will surprised at what it will do. I am going to try putting in a little ammonia in the washer fluid to see what that does. My wife uses warm ammonia water when she washes the house windows and it really gets them clean.

So I guess I'm a little confused. I'm no stranger to cold weather in Montana, but I've never windshield washer fluid ice up on me before. I always use the winter formula with additives (I think it's usually just methanol) designed to keep this from happening. I'm not trying to be a smart ass, but I just don't see what this is supposed to cure.

I've looked at them for some time and wondered about them.

Its not a secret that warm fluid will clean better. Dont matter what your doing, the heat works. This would be real handy for us in the snow belts...

Exactly what Eric said. Its not about wash fluid freezing up its about the hotter water cleaning better. Hot water emulsifies dirt and grim easier and cold water.

Yeah I agree - that's where most of the fly by night gimmicks end up ...

We have been getting along fine with cold windshield washer fluid for 50 years (I don't know about you but my anti-freeze windshield washing fluid breaks through the ice just fine) now we need hot water because some 'Mickey Mope" wants to make a few bucks - for $20 bucks maybe but $180 huh?

- GET ATTA' HERE !!!-:t

Thats all well and good and you have gotten along without it for 50 years so I am sure you will get along without it for another 50 years. You will see this as and option in new cars and trucks within a year or 2 at the most. It will be standard equipment with cold weather package. If you don't think so then just wait and see.

I agree Gregg it will be standard in cold climate packages.Who would have thought they'd put wipers and washers on headlights and wiper blades on back windows in vans and Suv's................

I cannot see how slightly warmed WW fluid is going to much for anyone. If your travelling along at 70 MPH and start pumping fluid it's cold instantly. The windchill at 70 MPH is pretty extreme. I can see this negating any heat advantage this device would give in the winter.

The sun in the summer heats up the windshield and in turn the fluid. Plus the motor heat keeps the fluid real hot in the summer.

LanduytG

Motor heat does not keep the fluid 150* or even close to it. The tank on our trucks is right up front where it gets fresh air going acrossed it all the time. You might think that a 70 it would be stone cold but its not. Where I mounted mine is within less than a foot from the nozzles. Beleive me this thing works.

Are you serious?

"For an inanimate object, windchill has an effect if the object is warm. For example, say that you fill two glasses with the same amount of 100-degree water. You put one glass in your refrigerator (http://science.howstuffworks.com/refrigerator.htm), which is at 35 degrees, and one outside, where it is 35 degrees and the wind is blowing at 25 mph (so the windchill makes it feel like 8 degrees). The glass outside will get cold quicker than the glass in the refrigerator because of the wind. However, the glass outside will not get colder than 35 degrees -- the air is 35 degrees whether it is moving or not. That is why the thermometer reads 35 degrees even though it feels like 8 degrees"

That should clear that theory up, Have a Great Day!

Greg, I don't think you need to defend the new product. There are people that will have a need to buy it and those that don't. Later! Frank

I could use it here in Texas during the spring. Those dam sticky bugs cake up on the windshield and the standard fluid only smears them. Sucks having to get out every few miles and scrub them off.

However, it is a little pricey. Surely one could be made and marketed in the sub $100's? I might have to make a coil with the engine coolant to heat a coil of washer fluid. Could also use a small 12v coil heater (rv use) with some adapting.

Greg i hope you sell a buckload of them. Heck if it snowed here in texas i'd have one on my truck. When you say its a quality accessory, i know you have done your homework. I have your website as a favorite and have purchased my evans coolant, fumoto valve, bleed valve, ss bleed screw, to name a few and all have been as advertised
thanks
