What do you have aftermarket on the truck ?

If nothing then no big deal to take it in. I will say that my truck runs better then before. Tranny shifts smoother to me.

I just got a reminder postcard about this too.

Apparently, according to the postcard, they're also going to fix some front diff vent tube too???

They're also going to be shown the clearcoat that's badly peeling off all of my wheels. Hope they have a solution for that one....

Up to you to take it in. I told my service manager what to expect when it was flashed. Had issues from them. Not all dealers seem cool about mods. It could be a crap shoot for that.

Just got mine yesterday in the mail 08142- ECm eeprom- reprogram ecm.Really doesn't tell you much(anything) about it.I know someone put it here I will look. Most of these that I have got in the past (on other vehicles) give some sort of explanation of what the correction is?

The reflash takes care of an intermittent no start problem involving your theft system. Next time I do one I'll have to get the summary of the reflash. I know also in the reflash there are a couple of modifications to the programming to enhance a couple of DTC and a couple involving the DPF. I don't know why you'd be affraid to get the update. Just make sure any programmer thats in it is taken out and your stock programming is put in.

My Dealer didn't understand or like the programmer installed.

The update gets me less shifting when towing, but the Regenerations are about the same frequency and no better mileage.

I got mine reflashed right befor ei took on vacation and I did not notice any differences in anything while driving/towing. I was told it was for a regen status issue? Whatever that means.

#08412:ECM EEPROM-REPROGRAM
Had this done an hour ago.
ECM programming error that can result in incorrect data being written to the EEPROM used by the vehicle theft deterrent system ,causing the engine not to crank or start.
This is what they did for the recall # above.I asked for a report on the recall and was given one it explains everything that caused the problem and the fix for it.I will file it away with truck papers.
Maybe I had a different recall then others but it had nothing to do with shift points or regeneration?

I should of put this down in Warranty/Recall issues thread-sorry.

Got mine updated. No big deal I just told them to ignore any codes they see. They did and It took about 20 minutes and I was back on the road.

Not always the case... I about got in a fist fight with a service guy at a different dealer because he fell out of my lifted truck when he tried to get in then told me he was going to void my warrenty.

just tell them on the phone what you have done to your truck. and if they dont like the extras or give you a hard time about them then call another dealer until you hopefully find one that will work with you.

Well I just had this done and I notice the shift points are smoother. I had to shuttle my toy hauler around town for its own recall and I didn't notice any difference in power... just smoother. I can say my mileage is no better.

Finally had mine done today. After 5 starts and maybe 6 miles, no noticeable difference.

I took my '08 LMM to the GMC dealer in Mission Valley (San Diego) and the woman doing intake for the service department said she was surprised that I had trouble with my battery (batteries) - she thought diesels used glow plugs (!). Dealers are not created equal; unless you thrive on conflict and frustration, find a good one. It's a violation of Federal law (look it up on the SEMA web site) and also state law in CA, to deny warranty coverage unless they PROVE that the modification you made is the cause of the problem.

They're also going to be shown the clearcoat that's badly peeling off all of my wheels. Hope they have a solution for that one....

ClearCoat peeled on mine around 6 months. Took it in and the tech asked me what type of cleaners I used on them and how long they sat on the wheels. They appeared a little shocked when I said nothing but a touch free wash, wand at the local car wash and the occasional soft mit on them with the tire cleaner from the wand (if that even) sitting on them no more than about 60 seconds each. 4 wheels later these appear to be ok thus far. Won't be able to tell for another 6-12 months since they were just replaced in May/June.

BTW - no problems with the reflash completed about 1500 miles ago.

I took mine in last week and had it re-flashed, I have a PPE Hot tuner and took it out before the dealership messed with it. I ran the truck all week without putting the tuner back in, pure laziness, and my engine light was on because of the turbo-back exhaust and no dpf. The truck ran fine. I tried putting my tuner back in, and the tune loaded fine, but my truck would run for half a second then shut off. I reloaded the tune several times and finally put it back to stock. Now my truck goes into "reduced power mode" after a few miles. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks....

PPE tuners needed an updated OS, due to the ECM update. GM changed the operating system. Look in the 4th Gen electronics section, tons of info on what to do. Chris

Thanks, I called PPE, I have to send it in to be updated. Wish I could just do it online, would be much easier....
