Looking for traction bars for an offroad truck. Are the Cognito Economy traction bars worth it? Are there other brands worth considering? Biggest problem is some wheel hopping going up steep hills. Thanks!

I have the Cognito bars and have NO wheel hop while towing in the sand or going up hills.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=70849&d=1219181173

If this is a real offroad truck you need them for those bars are not for you, they will limit axle articulation. If it's a steet truck driven in the sand once in a while or for pulling those will be fine.

Just saw a vid of a guy pull that had 60" 1 1/4 black pipe with 1 black pipe on the inside. Things were stout. Thought about doing this myself.

WHATS THE DIFRENCE BETWEEN THE 60" AND 50" ?

I think the 50s are for regular cab trucks.

Do the Cognito bars weld on? How hard of an install is it?

SO would these Cognito Econo bars work with a 6" Fabtech lift or would i have to go with the other ones????? My truck doesnt have it in yet, but i am getting pretty impatient and ready to pull the trigger.

About 10" ..:) You would use the 60" kit.

The short 50"s are for reg. cab frame.

These bars can work on any lift as long as there is no other product in the way. Bars bolt (can be welded) to the frame and welded mounts to the axle.

We have them on line here:

Yes other brands are worth considering. For sure.

Look hard and spend your money wisely. You can make your own too...

i built mine for around 175$. Had some DOM 1 1/2 .120 wall laying around and got 4 heims with some weld in bungs(thats were the 175$ comes in). no binding in the articulation because of no bushings. work perfect, no more axle hop and were half the price of most traction bars on the market.

try caltracks thats what is going on mine as soon as they get here, they are tuff as hell and wont affect your ride too much. They work real good for sled pulling and drags. One of the local full out pullin trucks has run the same set for oner a year and he pushin 1000 rwhp with no problem

I was looking into traction bars myself, but I really didn't want to sacrifice the ground clearance. I went with a non-torsion drop kit up front so I would rather not mirror that issue in the back. Is there another alternative ?

As my buddy badinblack would say you're ballin' on a budget, but we all know that's BS!!! You apparently just aren't sure what you want to do yet and went with the economy bars for now. Or you're just waiting till you sell the FURD!!! LOL a budget......you are a funny guy!

Are the cognito bars a bolt on affair?

I need something to help out with the soft stuff and gravel as I would rather not have to use 4wd all the time.

I believe the cognito's are bolt on to the frame and you have to weld the other bracket to the rear axle. Correct me if i am wrong.

From enlarging the image...the attachment to the axle looks bolt on.

You have to weld the tabs that hold it to the rear axle.
