: McCormic tractors
michaeljp86 08-19-2008, 02:00 AM What do you guys think of the new McCormic tractors? I know a guy with one about 2 years old and its alot like my IH 484, I think it has the same transmission. His has a perkins engine in it. There is alot of cheap stuff on it like the knobs for the 3pt, throttle, etc. Thay are all cracked and falling off after only 2 years. It has a electric engaged 4wd which I guess is ok. It also idles at 1200rpm and full throttle is like 2500, not much of a rang there. I do like the JD better, it just seems to be built better and alot more attention payed to little things.
mx2702001 08-19-2008, 10:56 AM They cant be all that different since they bought the Doncaster plant from CIH so i am sure they are just IH models with few updates. They do have tractors all the way up to 275hp they look pretty close to current Case tractors.
Deere3594 08-19-2008, 12:03 PM I thought "McCormick Deering Farmall International Harvester" was all the same thing :)
01Duramax6spd 08-19-2008, 04:19 PM Maybe someone can answer this. If they are connected to IH and IH and New Holland are connected then what kind of circle do we have .
kklonghorns 08-19-2008, 06:18 PM Most new tractors are made by FIAT. JOHN DEERE and NEW HOLLAND are not.
01Duramax6spd 08-19-2008, 09:11 PM New Holland and CIH both come out of the same plant in Grand Island NE. I know that much cause it's only about 4hrs from my house.
Most new tractors are made by FIAT. JOHN DEERE and NEW HOLLAND are not.
oldtractors 08-19-2008, 11:35 PM McCormick's are owned by Landini. They have nothing to do with IH. New Holland had to sell off some of the lines before they were able to merge with Case IH. The Maxim tractors (<150 HP) sold to Landini. The big Versatile 4WD tractors and the >150HP New Hollands went to Buhler, and now are owned by a Russian company.
Case New Holland is all one company. I don't think any tractors are being built in Grand Island. Combines are being built there.
CNH (Case, Ford, New Holland, IH, Steiger) is a Fiat company (Italian).
Buhler (Versatile, New Holland) is a Rostselmash company (Russian)
Nearly every other American brand you can think of is a Agco company (US)
John Deere is still John Deere (USA)

Half right... New Holland is part of the Fiat group.
Dmax Tim 08-20-2008, 10:37 AM I thought "McCormick Deering Farmall International Harvester" was all the same thing :)
the red compacts from NH are Farmalls :D
mx2702001 08-20-2008, 12:04 PM With the CaseIH-Newholland merger CNH Case had to sell its mid range tractors 40-150 so it sold them to the same people that own Landini. Since that is NHs strong seller in tractors. Where as Case IH sold more of the high hp tractors 180-550 hp so NH sold its high HP line to Buhler. Front assist tractors are built in Racine WI and the Articulated 4 wheelers are built in Fargo ND and the Rotor Combines are built in Grand Island NE. Engine plants will be changing since CNH is Leaving the Cummins Joint Venture. They will be Iveco Engines since thats part of the Fiat Powertrain Group
01Duramax6spd 08-20-2008, 12:13 PM So just the NH Combines come out of the GI plant?
dieselguy 08-20-2008, 07:55 PM Yup Kyle your correct. Havent been down by the GI plant for quite awhile. Have to stop down there during Husker Harvest days. If a guy wants a new combine this year you more then likley will be out off luck. Most every make is sold out on the allotment off this years combines. Sorry a bit off topic here. You know with all these different names for tractors its hard to tell who makes what for what. I give credit to John Deere who has not merged with anybody yet. JD is still JD.

No, both Red and Yellow are made in Grand Island. I dont know how Grand Island is, but I know that at the Fargo Steiger/Wheel Loader/TV plant and the Racine Magnum/TG plant both Red and Blue come right down the same line.

mx2702001 08-22-2008, 12:11 PM Might not be much action comming out of GI for either brands since new models are comming real soon for the Red guys i do know. NH has new models also but might be a bit later on since red production takes most of the line usually. Look For 50/60/7088 to replace 25XX axial flow and the 10 series becomes 71/81 and the new big dog 9120. NH will still be same machine with upgrades and new model numbers 9090 i think will be their big dog. I have herd 560hp on both big machines comming from 12.9 Iveco Power also look for a bigger hp Steiger.

Yes, very good point, the Steiger plant in Fargo is closed at the moment for retooling and cleaning. If our dealer can back up his word, we should be demo'ing a 7088 and/or a 8120 this fall...
mx2702001 08-27-2008, 03:37 PM Already had a good look at 9120 all it needs now is 16 row corn head the 535 Pro its called goes up to 610hp for the Steiger i think they got to be pushing that 15l cummins now Back to Mc Cormick they got some new tractors comming in the mid range lots of good options from what reps tell me plus they are going to bring in more dealers and make them better to compete finally CaseIH has smaller MX series comming too down to 160 hp and Puma Mid range is getting CVT Trans

I did see a couple of pictures of a 7088, I havent seen a 9120 yet, but I really do like the looks of what I have seen so far. There is nothing wrong with the 2388 we are running now, but our farm is at the point where we need a bigger machine or add a second machine. 610 would be pushing the QSX 15 a bit, but Cummins did offer the Signature 600 in trucks, I dont know if they still do or not, so it cant be pushing it that much.
Lack of dealers is really what is killing McCormick, the small MX's that they purchased from CNH were about the best on the market, we had a MX135 and loved it, we were going to go with a McCormick, but the closest dealer is about 50 miles away.
The new smaller Magnums look nice, and its about dang time they bring the CVT technology over here in something red.
