: Which chip or tuner???
lakeview28 08-18-2008, 10:24 PM I've got a 2004 Chevy 4500 with the duramax 6.6 LBZ. Its a mason dump for work and ive seen it done and i want more out of it. Whether it be fuel economy or a little more torque and power etc. all would be best. Somewhat new to the chip and tuning world and all that so i'm looking for some help on which tuner and all to purchase and whats best. Thanks for your help in advance. Much appreciated.
lakeview28 08-19-2008, 03:42 PM No one can give me any sort of opinion, input anything?
Morse 08-19-2008, 04:08 PM If it's an early 04, you have an LB7. Late 04's were LLY's. As far as tuners/programmers, you'll get many opinions. Pretty much any of them will put a smile on your face compared to a stock truck. I just purchased efi live, but haven't installed it yet..
kodiak 08-19-2008, 09:00 PM Efilive on my rig. You can do economy, power, everything.....except adjust the speedo for 40" tires
lakeview28 08-19-2008, 10:41 PM Ok so the EFI live, anything else really? keep in mind that this is a work truck. Anything else to add, not looking to spend a whole lot of course but fuel economy and power are my 2 main concerns.
Installation that hard?
Mr Kodiak 08-20-2008, 09:39 AM well I use Banks Power Six Gun and speed loader with the PDA
It reads and clears codes and lets you adjust for after market tires
and has plenty of options for boost power and also give you many gauge options.
I do believe the Banks ottoman tells you the MPG
Mr Kodiak 08-20-2008, 09:40 AM Hey Kodiak can you use efi Live with the Banks?
kodiak 08-20-2008, 10:30 AM You can use EFI with anything.
Did you reset your speedo to work with the new tires??? Funny how EFI can't get it to work.

JohnOH327 08-20-2008, 06:16 PM Lots of members here do not like it but I have an Edge unit on my 04 JB7. Mainly got it for the monitor features but towing my 18.5K 5th wheel, I gained 1 mpg. Just plug into wire harness and go. Shift the 5 levels on the fly. Works for me. John
EFI Support 08-20-2008, 08:04 PM You can use EFI with anything.

Kodiak,
Paul released a fix for your speedo calculator issue in July - if you're using 7.5.4 build 62 (I think this was an early July release) or greater (there have been 2 or 3 updates since then) you should be able to make the required adjustments. In addition to 7.5.4, you will need to be also running our Pre-Release BBL firmware for this function to be operational.
Cheers
Cindy
lakeview28 08-20-2008, 08:18 PM Ok so Im gettin a little confused. is there things other than the EFI live and all that are more or less plug and play, right into the wire harness and what not. Im not always in the truck so I want somethin that doesnt have to be dialed in or played with and all.

I am currently running the 7,5,4 build 64. I must need the Pre-release BBL firmware. As soon as I figure out what that is:D. I do some looking around. Thanks Cindy!!!
My vote for easy is the PPE
Mr Kodiak 08-20-2008, 11:18 PM John mentioned the different stages of PPE
I wish he could start a thread with the different things that are done at each stage
I went with Banks because is was easy and not very complex
PPE I think is better but also you need to know how and what hardware/ software is needed for each stage
Blacky 08-21-2008, 09:10 PM you should be able to make the required adjustments. In addition to 7.5.4, you will need to be also running our Pre-Release BBL firmware for this function to be operational.

The BBL firmware update is only required if you are using FlashScan V2.
If you are using FlashScan V1, you don't need to update the firmware (in fact you can't update the firmware in V1).

Paul
kodiak 08-21-2008, 11:23 PM So, does this mean that the speedo can't be calibrated for 40" diameter tires size with a V1???
lakeview28 08-22-2008, 11:07 PM what about the modules and what not from stiker. The fuel economy one and the power ones from painless performance. Any good?
And one question, can i put the fuel programmer on to save fuel and also put a power one on as well to play around with the power settings and what not or is that kinda gonna defeat the purpose or cancel out one another??
