I know this subject has been beat to death but what I am wondering is how much clearance problems that I will have trying to put 285/75/16 Goodyear MTR's on 16x8 eagle 118 wheels on my 2001 GMC crew cab duramax 4x4. I have my torsion bars cranked several turns. I know the 285's will work with stock wheels but they sure don't look like they would on the 16x8's. There is a new crew cab at the local GMC dealer that has this setup on it but it seems like it sits up higher in the front because all they had to do was trim a very minor amount of the air dam. Just don't want to buy the 285's online and then not be able to get them on when they arrive. Should I chance the 285's or stay with the 265's???

You'll get them on, I got my 285's on with my weld wheels and had to trim the bumper but I did not crank my tbars. Yes they rub at full lock but it's no big deal.

I just had my tb turned up and I am able to get 305/75/16 on my 2005 2500HD w/ minor rubbing. I say go for it.
