I was wondering if the Edge chip or the Preadator programmer was traceable by
the dealer if removed before you went in for warrenty work? Meaning if you went in for an engine/driveabilaty problem could they deniy any warrenty work?
I am thinking of getting one of the two but want to go with something that isnt
traceable by the dealer if warrenty work is needed? I have heard that the engine ID software can be changed if either the chip or programmer has installed on the truck? Any truth to this?

yes they can. it doesnt set a code that says it was chiped but if there is every a problem it will set a bunch of different codes all at the same time which suggests to the dealer that it was chiped.

Why not revert to stock tune on the predator and clear the codes before you go to the dealer? Or am I missing something?

I guess with an Edge you could get a reader to clear the codes.

from what I saw when I went to the dealer while he was working on my max..mind you he was a cool guy and good diesel mechanic.. when he hooked up the Tech II to it, it seems that the ECU has some sort of history or logging feature that is not read by typical scanners or readers. So I don't think they can tell "exactly" what was done, but it will show changes that the computer has detected and how long ago and how frequently. He read mine off and it was to the day of when I installed the complete exhaust.

Could be worse, my friends PSD lost the trans. Dealer told him only code set was hidden code for performance tuning. However, they also said trans problem was not caused by tuning and got him a new tranny. One thing to keep in mind it is not legal for a dealer to deny a warranty claim on the sole basis that you have performance enhancing products installed on your vehicle, they have to prove that the enhancment caused the failure.

What about the factory dealers who are selling the Hypertech(?) chip at their parts counter? If chipping is possible warranty voiding, they are voiding their own warranty.
