DA INFERNO 08-18-2008, 01:21 PM The front drop bracket looks like a fixed up Fabtech drop down.
Don't care for the front differential skid plate. Needs to be symmetrical. Don't care for the drop brackets either. I guess it's OK for a pavement princess though.

I totally agree..I really don't like the drop brackets they look too busy.

ZR1160 08-18-2008, 07:24 PM Just doesn't do it for me...............
DMAX Will 08-18-2008, 10:20 PM I just remembered this truck I saw on GMFS..it looks ok, would look way better if the lift was powdercoated black or to match the truck..but I'd much rather see a truck with Cognito instead :confuzeld
His name on GMFS is Z71Offroader

Z71offroader 08-18-2008, 11:06 PM knew i should have waited and got it powdercoated black...
DMAX Will 08-18-2008, 11:44 PM Haha..did you ever post pics on here also? Sorry to whore your truck out without you knowin :o:
Z71offroader 08-19-2008, 12:07 AM no worrys man...ya someone posted some up in this thread shortly after i did the kit http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=251085&highlight=rize+lift they got the pics off gmfs as well, never did make my own thread over here tho. and heres the thread over at gmfs its got some pics toward the end as well http://www.gmfullsize.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123013
but overall im very happy with the kit, they put alot of thought into the steering which really pleased me. and i was feeling the same way about the drop brackets and all until i saw it in person.
Snapperqc 08-30-2008, 02:40 PM Truck looks sharp. I like all the negative comments from members that already have a Fabtech or CST junk.
B-rad 08-30-2008, 03:18 PM i would pimp it. but the tires would have to go first
Duramax_JP 08-30-2008, 05:10 PM I like Rize as a company and i like their lifts but i think if they cleaned up the underside a little more and didnt have so much going on underneath t would look great. However i havent seen one powdercoated black so idk. Powdercoated it could look ten times better but idk. Defintiely wouldnt mind having the kit if it was offered to me though.

dieselmiester 01-05-2010, 10:09 AM Just trying to get a consensus on best lift, Cognito, CST, Rize etc. New to the whole thing and want opinions on lifts longevity, ride, just overall practicallity.

The wheel and tire you are looking to run will help you dial in the best option for lift to use. All 3 companies are good lifts on the high end side of the industry but I would for sure sway you the direction of the spindle designed lifts like how Cognito and Rize run. Over all a better design for multiple reasons of offsetting added leverage and stress added by the larger tires and wheels. Here is something we have on our site about spindle vs. control arm drop lift designs:
Here's something to help you visualize the scenario:
We all have bench pressed weights - You have your hands spread 15 inches apart on the bar with 10 lbs. on either end. No problem - you have as much stability as you would need with such a low weight. Now put 35 lbs. on either end of that bar and keep your hands at the same 15 inch span. The bar becomes unstable and the short span makes it impossible to keep control. Now increase the span of your hands to 25 inches. The stability is regained and you have no problem handling and controlling the weight.
15 inch span, 10 lbs. = Stock truck & stock tire size
15 inch span, 35 lbs. = A-arm drop kit & larger tires
25 inch span, 35 lbs. = Cognito spindle design & larger tires

Excellent information. I would really like to run 37's or bigger w/o having to trim fenders, although I dont want a truck that sits really high and make the wheels look dinky. The truck will be used primarily as a toy hauler (motorcycles) and just polishing up to cruise around. How do I find a reliable installer? I am in Michigan and to me having it done by someone with experience has to be at the top of the priority or can a couple of old car wrenchers get it done?
I have also heard that the the stability track will be thrown off?
Where is a good place to check out pics of trucks so I can zero in on wheels

A spindle design like Cognito or Rize kit is also great for installing and can be done by a DIYer so if you feel like tackling the job it is not bad as long as you don't try and set any record install times:). Take your time and you will be fine.
This might help you on pics.

I wish my truck was huge like that but man is it expensive to lift the IFS that high!
