: Installed Quad now Brake and ABS lights are on
magictony 08-18-2008, 01:27 AM I just installed the Quad and everytime I drive it the red Brake light and ABS lights on the dashboard light up. Also, it says "Service Trailer Brake" on the dashboard. What should I do? Should I return it to stock and reinstall the tune?
DMAX-Dude 08-18-2008, 01:55 AM I had this same issue which I just corrected this weekend. I'm guessing that you're using this to correct for tire and or gear change on top of the addition of power? Does this only happen when you accelerate heavily? I called Quad and they said they never heard of it. What program were you inputting? I need a little more info. I just adjusted my tire size .25 smaller than what it should be and it fixed it (so far). Oh and the speedo it just off by about 2mph.
tp012782 08-18-2008, 02:08 AM Im having the some problem, but i tried put the truck back to stock and the lights dont go away,WTF!!!
SSchmi5519 08-18-2008, 02:58 AM The most the truck will hold it 34" tire size in the programmer without the use of a tech II which is a pain in the arse.
I have mine set to 34" and with my 37's its not too far off.
magictony 08-18-2008, 11:09 AM I think I will put it back to 34's then. I don't see how Quad had no idea about this since I was doing some searches on this last night after I posted the thread and found a lot of people with the same problem.
DMAX-Dude 08-18-2008, 02:00 PM I've been to the dealer many times regarding this problem, and on this site. I tried to have the Kodiak wheel and gear size input into the ecm (won't work different OBD type connector). I called Quad and called Dan at PPE (I have the Quad Stealth 2). Tech support at Quad had never heard of this. Dan happened to be out of the office the day I called but I searched this site for his threads and found one where he suggested that you drop the size of the tire you programmed into the ecm by .25" . This worked for me. The 07.5 NBS cannot be fixed with the tech 2. I have larger than 34" programmed into my ecm. Hope this helps and saves you time.
1lowdiesel 08-18-2008, 02:50 PM have you guys tried the latest updates off quadzilla's site?
08DuramaxBoy 08-18-2008, 10:52 PM I had the same thaing happen to me wen I tried uploading the economy tune. I just reloaded the tune again and cleared all the dtcs. So far I haven't had any problems. Knock on wood.
Z71offroader 08-18-2008, 11:27 PM its not the quad thats making the light come on its your larger tires that is. ive got 40s and have the same problem with or without the quad, but with stock tires i dont. it has to do with your speed/wheel sensors.
magictony 08-19-2008, 12:34 AM I had my truck lifted more than three months ago but just now installed the Quad. The first time I drove it with the Quad was the first time all these codes popped up. It's not the tires, I drove it with 37's for more than 3 months with no problems, it's when I programmed the ECM with the correct tire size that the problems began. I physically measured my tires to assure the most accurate speedo reading and the 37's only measure 36.25. Today I changed the setting to 35.25 and the codes went away. The codes were popping up within 1 minute of driving my truck, I drove it for 30 minutes after i dropped the tire size and no problems. I may sound dumb but what are the DTCS and ECBM.

DTC's are your trouble codes. On your Quad main menu it has a option to clear all of your dtcs. You just need to clear all of yours and it should be fine.
magictony 08-20-2008, 04:10 PM I actually did not clear any codes, I just dropped the tire size to 35.25 but yesterday I increased it to 35.75 and still no codes pop up. Tomorrow I will increase it to 36.00 and see what happens.
DMAX-Dude 08-22-2008, 02:46 AM :coolnana: Told ya! Should work within .50" without a problem.
blowblacksmoke 08-28-2008, 02:41 AM I had the same problem before when i first got lifted. I was running 38inch kumho road ventures with stock 3:73 gears and when i turned it with my rbp race tuner the lights came on. I went to a tech that i know at my local chevy dealer and we hooked up a tech 2 to the truck and went for a drive. The truck was thinking that the back axle was running faster than the front. So we set the tuner at 38inch tires and 4:10 gears and the problem went away but my speedo was about 12mph off at 70mph (i know cuz i got pulled over on the way home from vegas i thought i was going 75 but i was really going 87, i explained to the CHP officer and he was cool enought to understand and he let me go). I just had a 3in body lift installed on my 2008 and i put 41x14.50x20 Super Swamper Iroks and 4:88 gears on my truck and ive tried everything i could think of to try to get the lights to go off but nothing i have done works. I need to go back to the chevy dealer and hook up the tech 2 and see what we can do. The worse thing about this problem is that it kills the trailer brakes, i went camping this weekend and we took out my weekend warrior and i had NO trailer brakes, it was fully loaded with a rhino and 2dirts bikes, very scary going downhill. Take care everyone.
SSchmi5519 08-28-2008, 07:44 PM It has to do with the abs speed sensor.
It is kind of like a ratio...
This is how i can best explain it.
The speedometer reads the speed from the rear wheels while the abs sensor reads the front wheels.
When you change your speedo it corrects the rear wheel speed sensor, but since the abs sensor reads a different speed it throws the abs light and brake light on the cluster.
The most difference it can handle is if your programmer is set for 34" tires.

what i did on my truck to get my trailers brakes back was installed a p2 brake controller and ran a new brake wire from my controller to my rear plug and cut the old brake control wire to the plug. it makes you factory controller not work but the aftermarket unit will so you will have brakes.
one thing you many want to try if you already havent is set you gears to 3:73s and tire size to like a 33 and play with it. since you going to 4:88s with your 41s is very close to stock. i plan on trying this wen i regear my truck with my 40s...
