My uncle is going to be getting a John Deere 7600 to replace a well used 4440 soon. The 44 has is rated with slightly more horses than the 76 and i was curious if there were any chips, tuners that could be used to get some more grunt out of it. And also, i know that with trucks you need to do other things like larger exaust to keep egt's down, would you need to do the same with a tractor?

I think a 7600 is a mechanically injected engine so a chip won't work on them like on an 8000 series tractor.

Yes it is mechanical injection. just found out. I did come up with a place that you can send the ip in and have it tweaked, may end up going that route now.

I think once ya got to the 20 series they can be chipped with a TS or Bully Dog. Some 10 series tractors show up on the list TS can tune.

Do you have a link? I only saw it as an option for the 8000 series.

Spent enough time in a 4440, great all around tractor. Funny how a number can bring back so many memories! Hope the new one serves you well.

I've seen it listed to fit a 6420 cause we have a 6410 and I was hoping it'd work but it wouldn't.

Me too.

He bought the 4440 new, now between all of us it's goe over 10,000 hours on it, none of them easy, it's one heck of a tractor. The interesting thing is iirc he got the tractor new for $35k+/-?? and the trade in value for it is 23k.

Found a place in Creston Ia that can turn the IP up. I would think that would satisfy any hp loss from the 4440
