Hi all,

Don't you just hate it when the wife says, "hey is your truck still messed up?' Of course, I had no idea anything was wrong until she asked, and then preceded to tell me the truck stalled once and it was running rough and the SES light was on.

Went out and it started right up and drove it around the block just fine too. I pulled out the Code Reader and there was one stored code P0251 which the book says is Injection Pump Metering Control A. I erased the code, waited, started the truck again and it ran fine and the code did not appear again. So, anybody know what this means? Any advice would be appreciated.

thanks,
Binky

PMD!!!

No, i don't really know lol. but it sounds like the same symptoms mine had when it gave out. It would run rough one trip and stall and then when the dealer took it for a drive or when i tried to show a friend it would pur like a kitten.

Insure good clean fuel supply with working lift pump, clean filter with no air bubbles.... funky fuel supply can throw random codes. Bad IP electrical connections may throw a random code too.

Funny you should recommend that. I was thinking the very same thing.

I went ahead and changed the fuel filter, making sure to bleed out any air and at the same time checking the flow and pressure from the lift pump. All seems well.

I have to admit that I suspect the Lift Pump. It's Summer so most often I have the windows down and I can hear the LP fire up as I wait for the WTS light to go out. But then there are times when I do not hear it. I don't know if that means that there was still sufficient pressure from the last time it ran...like I just ran in the store to buy a Diet Coke...or if the LP is starting to go.

I always keep spare parts on hand...like I had the Fuel filter already...so I may just buy a new LP and keep it around just in case.

Any recommendations on replacement Lift Pumps?

thanks,

Binky
