I installed the MBRP 4" turbo pipe back system this morning. All went well. Very straight forward after getting the OEM out. Excellent fit and finish and a great price also. Even my 62 year young spouse likes the sound. I can't believe how much snappier it runs on the bottom end. It is more than I expected. The real test will be when I hook my 5th wheel on in a few weeks. Later! Frank :D

Frank, I put the same system on mine two weeks ago and I love it as well. Very easy install. Hardest part was getting the OEM stuff out. My hats off to MBRP for making a great easy to install product.

FB, I just ordered the MBRP 4" Aluminized "Cool Duals" with the SS dual sided 5" tips and the LB7 front pipe. Mama JJ didn't even flinch? I told her it was her Mothers Day present. ):h I'm so dead! :(

Did you keep your CAT? Just wondering if any codes have been thrown. I like what I hear about the quality of the MBRP and the performance enhancements. Later. JJ :)

JJ, I installed the 4" MBRP turbo back (kitty gone) about two weeks ago. Have driven over a 1000 miles since then and no codes. When I mounted the muffler though I reversed the direction that MBRP recommended. The dealer that sold the system to me said that by reversing the direction it would create more back pressure and keep the LLY happy.

HH, if the muffler is installed in the normal direction did you get any codes? Or did you read something that showed this was a better application? JJ :)

JJ, I never tried it the normal direction. The dealer that sold me the MBRP system simply said to put the muffler on so that the cones faced forward instead of back. He said the LLY needs the back pressure and since he started installing them that way he wasn't seeing codes. All I know is that it's working for me.

Frank, any annoying "drone" in the 1600 to 1900 RPM? Remeber, I had the MBRP 4" muffler installed, and until I added the resonator the noise was just more than I wanted while driving around town. Glad you like yours, MBRP has good Customer service and good products.

HH, reversing the muffler is a no go for me since I ordered the cool duals. I'm going to do a search to see what results guys have had that installed the MBRP and removed the cat. IIRC as long as the muffler is on there it doesn't throw codes. Will advise if I find anything different. JJ :)

OC_Dmax asked the same question Mitch. It is a little loud getting up to speed and cruising at 15-1700 in 5th. I am towing the 5th wheel to St. George in two weeks. That will be the test. Later! Frank

OK, you guys make this sound soooooooooo easy ol' JJ is thinking maybe he can tackle this one himself. No drilling, cutting or electrical stuff. The only part that concerns me is the 4 bolt pipe. If that is a no brainer I might just save myself a couple hundred bucks.

Has anyone posted "The idiots guide to installing a MBRP cool dual exhaust, I guess I really should read the instructions. Now where is that trash can? :grd: I've already figured out how to install the 5" SS tips so the rest should be a breeze! Hmmm? JJ :)

JJ check out this thread. It's on a LB7 but, should help. Also I think if you dump the kitty, the muffler alone should not set any codes. Good luck.

JJ, kitty back or turbo back, it's a piece of cake. The hardest part for me was getting the piece that goes contains the kitty out. But even that's not to hard once you undo the bracket that holds the kitty to the back of the transmission. That's two bolts with one a bit hard to get at. If your doing turbo back it's simple to unbolt and hook up the new one. It helps a great deal to jack the truck up on the passenger side as much as possible. Both for ease doing the work and to get the old system out. It's one piece from the kitty back and you need to get the truck up a ways or else just cut the system right behind the rear axle (that's what I did). Go for it you can do it.

Ozzy, thanks for the pictures, very enlightening. :) I have pneumatic tools so I should be able to get the old system off without killing my hands. I figure the worst that can happen is if I can't finish the job I'll just drive one "noisy" LLY to the performance shop and let them finish the job. :o:

I likely won't get to this for a couple of weeks since I will be out of town on business and the truck has to go in for service next week for a leaky rear axle. I'm going to wait until after that visit to pull the CAT and install the new E/J w/attitude. That reminds me, I need to call Edge to see where my new one is. Later. JJ :)

JJ, you won't need any air wrenches, everything comes off quite easily. But if you do plan on a few weeks till R+R, then what I would do is start every so offen spray the bolts/nuts with a Liquid Wrench/WD-40 penatrating oil. This will aid in removal. Also it woun't hurt to spray the rubber hangers to help get them off also.
