I got my 48 gallon RDS diamond plate tank yesterday for my LLY Duramax.

Based on another thread on here I am planning on plumbing it into the return fuel line just past the fuel cooler. The other poster mentioned that he used a 1/4 NPT tee to do this. Where can I find such a tee? Home Depot or Lowe's? I also need to consider my pump.

Although I plan to use the bottom port on the RDS tank and it will then be gravity fed, the pump may speed it up and prevent fuel from siphoning. Napa has one that will pump 32 gal an hour. That seems slow. Suggestions?

Also, RDS says to try to use stainless steel connections to the tank, anyone know where to get stainless steel connections? They want at least a stainless connection between any brass and the aluminum tank.

Thanks in advance.

why do you want to plumb into the return line? i wouldn't do that.. or do you mean plumb into the feed line by the fuel cooler?

I do mean the return line. Plubming into the return line will add the fuel to the OEM tank and run through the OEM filter. I won't have to hack the filler neck or anything else this way. At least one other member here did this with a tee just after the fuel cooler and they said it worked great. I cannot find the thread tho.

I just installed a 60 gallon RDS tool/box fuel tank and I installed a aux fuel filter under the truck and a fuel pump which is then tied into the fuel tank vent line close to the lower portion of the line. I then installed another line toward the top of the vent line and ran it to the return line that is marked return by rds. I have had this for 2 months and it works great. The top return line is just in case I forget to shut the pump off it should force it back to the tank.

I wouldn't use a bottom drain port as a fuel outlet. Spring a leak or accidently leave your fuel cap loose and you will dump 48 gallons of diesel in your garage. I would also figure that it isn't legal. A smart DOT or environmental cop will write you up and have you towed.
