U1000 is a communication line code. It means that the modules tryed to talk on the data line but could not communicate. Modules connected to the class 2 serial data circuit monitor for serial data communications during normal vehicle operation. Operating information and commands are exchanged among the modules. When a module receives a message for a critical operating parameter, the module records the identification number of the module which sent the message for State of Health monitoring. A critical operating parameter is one which, when not received, requires that the module use a default value for that parameter.

So what are the ill effects if any? I threw it at 3500rpm going down the track with a sled in tow.
I was told by someone else it had to do with fuel temperature.

I havent heard of effects, and i havent heard of fuel temperature being a problem. It is a communication problem though.

No ill effects. Could be as simple as the radio or something causing communication problems.

U codes, as stated are communications codes. Im not sure what the person was thinking when they said it was related to fuel temp...

U1000 is a "general loss of communications" code, it doesnt really point to anything specific, for example U0106 which is "loss of communications with glow plug control module"

It doesnt necessarilly mean its something wrong with the body or the class 2 data bus. Could be something with the engine's high speed J1939 can data bus as well.

If the code doesnt come back, I wouldnt worry about it.

I have had U0106 several times. Anyone know what problem that would be? Is loosing com with the glowplugs sumthing 2 be worried about?

In cold weather if it doesn't turn the glow plugs on it might cause a hard start. Check power ground and the communication line to the module, if all of these are good the glow plug control module is bad. Also gm has up dated programming for the glow plugs. it is a recall and would be updated for free if it has not been done all ready.
