How much are you guys paying for this?
I went to Bobby Murray in Raleigh today to have the recall tailgate cables replaced and they want $25.00 for the thing. Seems a bit high to me.
What are you paying? Can you buy them online?
Thanks!

I think Eric has them for less than 20. My dealership wanted around 25, too.

my dealer charged about $28 and the parts dept. didn't have a clue as to what it was. Be careful when putting the new one in, it is easy to get cross-threaded.

Isn't there a timming issue installing the cap? I had a buddy of mine say that there is some kind'a sequence to do? I don't know if that makes any difference, I think the cap has a pindulum weight...donno?

Timing??? :) There is a pendulum type gizmo that should point down. The older black caps had a plastic one and the white one has a metal "pendulum". This is the only difference I can tell between the two caps (that and the shape of the white one makes it harder to get it started in the threads correctly). The best I could get out of the service dept is that the metal pendulum will stay in the right position because it is heavier.
Since I messed up the threads on my $28 new one:Pshyco: , I removed the pendulum and o-ring, put it on the old cap and put it back in. I wasn't about to pay another $28 to the dealer. (should have bought it from Eric). :banghead:

So now I have a hybrid vent cap.):h ):h :D

Tell me more about this vent. Mine has worked it's way loose 2 times. Has anyone had this problem? I snugged it up a little better the second time, I caught it early thank goodness not much fluid loss. Thanks Esmo

I have run synthetic in mine for 56K with the black cap. What is the problem associated with it? Later! Frank

Can someone post pictures of the cap and pictures of where it goes.

While you are at it, can you post exactly how to change it, and any pitfalls.
Thanks!!!!

The only difference I can tell between the two is the metal (on new version) versus the plastic ( on the old black one) pendulum "doohicky thingamagig." Maybe someone will correct me if I am wrong, but the metal one os heavier so that it will hang down better. If it should happen to get stuck pointing up, it would be more likely to cause fluid to get blown out the vent tube. Can someone tell me if this is right??? I'll try to get some pictures.

Pack, I just did mine this weekend. Its very easy. Just remove the rubber vent hose from the center and remove the old vent with a 15/16" deep well socket. It just screws in place. When you see the new one you will know what to do.
