I have a little rust on the bottom of the doors. There appears to be no chips. I just dismmised it as the previous owner didn't have any mud flapps on the truck and putting flapps on the truck and keeping it clean would slow it down. Not the case. I took the truck to a body shop and low and behold, the rust starts inside the door were the metal comes together. IE, it's rusting from the inside out? Has anybody else had this problem? I was told that Dodge has had issues with in older modles and they might be willing to work with me. The previous owner is a good friend of mine and being that I only piad $20k for the truck with 39,000 miles on it I'm not to disappointed. I plan on driving it into the ground. I was told they could stop the rust the best they could (they don't garuante anything) by repainting and appling gravel gaurd with the paint. Has anbody had there truck repainted to cover or stop rust and how long did it last before it came back. You guy's are a great source of information. I live in MN and they don't skimp when they put salt on roads.

it a cronic problem on the 2nd gen trucks eventually they will all do it. Also your rear fenderwells twords the top will see signs of rust eventually. Have it sprayed with a bed liner (profesional) to fix the prob or youre looking at 600/ door (thats what I was quoted)

Had a friend that used to squirt/spray engine oil into the bottoms of the inner panels.
