Which ones out there are preferred?

Strong design?
Good Filters that are cheap to replace?
Large oil addition?

I bought an Oilguard but I haven't put it on yet. Seems well made and adds about 1 1/2 quarts.

Those with the Amsiol Bybass what do you think? Which model fits the 6.5T? How nice of a kit is it? How much more oil added to system?

YEA one of the supporting vendors here at the Diesel Page I'm sure sells these or something like them and can answer you questions if given a chance.

I would use the same one that goes on the Duramax the BMK17 at $176.50 andincludes filters. If you want to mount it to the frame we have a bracket ready to go and is made for it at $25. All holes are drilled and its 10ga powder coated steal.

How much more volume is added to the system?I just installed Gregs kit with the bracket and I think it was 2 quarts, maybe.

I'm running the AMZOIL filter unit adapted to take Baldwin filters, adds 2 qt oil almost 3, mine is mounted on heat shield under drivers feet out in cool air stream fitted with a cool collar from JC Whitney passively pulls away some heat, possibly fractional amount, I never checked it with a temp probe to know quantitative cooling delta numbers. Greg or JK sell the AMZ kit, JK is where I got the adapter & my kit I don't know if he still carries those, by oil sample testing it does an excellent job an excellent longevity mod IMO.

I use the amzoil kit and it also adds about 2 qts to system. I use wix filters on mine one is a ford filter ph8a is the fram number the other filter is the same as a cummins dodge. you dont need any adaptors to convert it to aftermarket filters, they fit it as is.

How low do they hang down. Hate to clip one on something out playing (or working) around.

I have the Dr Lee by-pass setup with a Donaldson P551550 filter on my truck and my Scout.

A kit is better if you don't like to fab your own.

I have just completed my set-up of Remote Mount/Bypass Oil Filtration.

Oil Capacity is now 12 qts.

A kit would probably have been cheaper.

Bill,

Which remote filter head did you use?

Did tou remove the GM 90° filter mount?

Do you have any pics of it?

They are above the frame, and if this were a full time 4-wd venture (this is my tow rig that I use to drag my off-roads toys around with) they would be armoured with a plate and frame, but still in same location, they are no more at risk than the IC hanging low up front. Been there since 2000 shortly after I bought the truck, and I wholly agree it would tend to PO me if I snagged them on something, I carry 1 each spare & oil just on off chance I manged to put a hole in one.

I don't have a 4WD, so no 90* adapter.

I used a dual filter remote and mounted 2 51794 Wix's.

Then I used a Wix 24750 base and spun on A Monster 51749 Wix.

The Upside is 12 qt. capacity now.

I guess the downside is the 51749 is only 5 Micron.
