Anyone here have a two post lift? What do you have, likes and dislikes, weight capacity, clear floor, self install or hired out?

Looking into the possibilities of purchasing one. It won't get that much use, its for myself only. Considering a 10k unit because the cargo van weighs in around 9k with the junk thats in it. I was told the floor it will be on is 5" thick.

I have a Snap On 10,000 asymetrical lift clear span. Love it with the exception of my truck. My 2500 HD as slipped twice on this lift. NO damage to speak of but not good. I believe that the arms for the rear and front the way they are postioned, do not give this type of lift a good centering postion for my truck.
I would not buy this type again. I have used a regular lift and have had not problems.

Do a search for it on here. There was a big discussion of it a while back.

I am thinking about building a 3 stall garage and putting a 4 post lift in so I can start doing my own work....., I don't like 2 post lifts as our trucks are quite heavy in the front and I don't trust any of them, my dealer will not use them on trucks either.....

I'd rather have a two post lift instead. You can get the vehicle higher off the ground with a two post over a four post. There aren't any obstructions and you don't need jack trays to lift the vehicle for tire removal. If installed and used properly, they can handle the load that they are designed for.

I've done some searching here, cannot find the earlier post about the hoists/lifts.

One more. Sorry I don't know how to combine these in one post.

I would love to have one too but my wife think that health insurance and mortgage payments are more important.

we use a 9k 2 post and lift the tri axle spray truck which is heavier than our dmax trucks. we've got a 4 post semi lift and it sucks to do tire or brake work on. it's really good for tranny work or greasing/servicing trucks. I/ we always lift the vehicle just off the ground and shake it to make sure it's solid before going up. never had any trouble w/ them. we had a company install 2 of them back in the early 90s and dad built a new shop last year so we moved it complete w/ the SSL and set it up. they aren't hard to install but a good hilti drill and bits are a must.
