: So is it my turn for injectors?

I just got my Predator, and I checked the balance rates. All cylinders are NEGATIVE 1.5 to 2.0 except for #3 and #5. #3 reads right at positive 5.5, and #5 reads about positive 0.5. These values were taken with a completely warmed up engine with tranny in neutral.

I don't really have any of the smoking issues at idle except when it's really cold... then I do especially high idling. The truck runs fine and idles smoothly.

Comments?

P.S. I had the reflash done the middle of January.

Just for conversation.......here's mine:

All cylinders on mine are negative 1.5 - 2.0 except one which is 3.5 in neutral, idle engine warm. Readings are close to the same with Stock tune loaded.

Alright, thanks for the info. How accurate are balance rates in determining bad injectors? It sounds to me like it's just a baseline to consider if you have other symptoms too.

I did some more messing around with the Predator today, and my balance rates don't seem to really change much from drive to neutral. Is this normal? Now my #3 is consistently reading 6.0 or so when in drive. It drops down to about 5.0 or so in neutral.

+- 4.0 in Neutral or Park and +- 6.0 in gear is "acceptable" according to GM tech assist. If you get an injector outside of those limits I usually see a little roughness to the idle. Good tech at decent dealer will replace the affected injector(s). Or at least I would... warranty time suck, but we can still smoke em;)

Does a higher or lower number off of "0" indicate that an injector is going bad or could an injector that's at, say, a -4.0 in Neutral remain that way forever and never fail?

So what do you guys think? I appreciate the info so far, but I've got a 2500 mile trip planned next week, and I want to avoid any problems.

Also, my balance rates seem to jump all over the place. Sometimes they seem fine, but then I'll have one or two injectors spike a high number.

However, #3 seems to be consistently higher than all the others.

I also have some smoke for the first minute or so after startup in warm weather, which I never used to notice. So far, the idle is still very smooth.
