Check out some of the other threads, but if your lucky you'll end up with the 6-speeed Allison.:ro)

That would be impossible at this point, as there is no information, including prices, on the 2006's yet at the dealership level....I know....I order all of the GMC's and Chevys at our dealership. We won't have the ability to order 06's until June or July at the soonest. You might want to check with your dealer and have them give you an order number, I'll bet they ordered you a 2005. Just for fun ask them if they know what kind of Transmission the 2006 will have with the Duramax, if they say 5 speed Allison or 6 speed manual trans...then they don't have a clue. If they say a 6 speed Allison auto or 6 speed manual, then at least they know what's coming. But, truly, you can't order 06's yet....sorry:(

Approx May 15th 2004 was the last production date on the '04 models. Anything ordered before then was going to be an '04- It'll probably be the the same, or close to it this year too. The assy line takes a few weeks off to re-tool, before beginning new models, so expect a delivery date of about mid-August if you're getting an '06

No, when i say ordered it, i mean, i told my guy what i want and he said as soon as they take orders i'm already at the top of the list. sorry about that. I just wasn't sure what the changes were if there were any. I've heard both that it's going to remain the same and the it's going to be completely diff.

It would be nice if GMC would change the front ends of the HD's (with a taller hood profile and revised grille) like Chevy did, so there could be some differences between the HD and LD models. Just my 2 cents.

i know a lot of people that are not fond of the chevy look and like the look of the gmc better but they do need a lot of refining i agree. the older body style didn't require all of the putco grills to make them look good. i like the 1/2 3/4 ton inserts better than the HD steel mesh look. i think it looks cheep and the new grill was one of the first things to go on the 02 duramax. they need remove the deep hood and add more grill i hate the forehead look that you get from the front when looking at a chevy.

these are just my opinions. my .02 at face value. :)

I have heard that for 2007 GM will completely revamp the Silverado and GMC trucks. New bodies, interiors, suspensions, etc. I was going to keep my 02 4x4 2500HD crew cab for a while longer, but the deal on the 2005 4x4 2500HD crew cab I just bought was too good to pass up. And the new LLY Duramax is sweeet!! I figure that if GM does change the trucks, the Duramax won't be the first one they release. So I have a while to enjoy my 05. Unless what I've been hearing through the grapevine is true and GM is planning on installing a Duramax in an H2 Hummer. Sign me up!!
