I have the flat rectangle. I know people here say to find a '97,'98,or '99 model and take the air box setup from that. My questions are:

1)Does that apply to gas trucks too?

2)what about year '00 or '01? Wouldn't it be the same from whatever year they started the round setup to the first year of dmax??

3)does it look like this? http://www.afeproducts.com/IntakeSytemstestold.php
(sorry can't link to the exact page, but I'm obviously talking about the round setup they have)

4)When I look up air filters for stock applications for those later years, I still get results showing the flat rectangle. http://www.amsoil.com/catalog.aspx?code=EAA112-EA (this is what I get when checking for a '99)

Thanks

AFAIK, a gaser intake will not work. The round filter on a '96 305 has the intake tube exiting the filter box on the wrong end. Any round 6.5TD filter late 96 or 97, whenever the round filter was first used (97, IIRC) through 00 should work.

Does anyone have a picture of the stock box?

Also as I'm searching thru used parts I'm coming across some different options and thoughts.

Things like "6.5L, VIN "F", w/o high capacity" VS. "6.5L, VIN "F", w/high capacity (opt K47)"

Also does it make a difference from 4x4 or not, or 1500, 2500, 3500?

But yeah, I'd really like to see a pic of what I'm after.
