I just switched over to synthetic mobil 1 Delvac, and was wondering what kinds of milage u are changing the oil at with synthetics. If anyone has sent out theirs for an oil analysis let me know what kind of results you recived back. Thanks for any help. I figured i would change the filter at 5-6k and then the oil next time for staters before I sent it out for an analysis.

I don't have my 12k analysis back yet, but the 8k analysis showed an 8.5 TBN & good wear metal numbers with M1 5w-40. The bad news is that I have gotten better wear numbers & TBNs with Mobil Delvac 1300 Super 15w-40 Dino oil, so I'll be switching back to that next oil change. Synthetic hasn't proven to do me any good, in my experience, except for cold weather start-ups.

i run delvac 1 and change at 5,000 mile intervals give or take a hundred miles or so. I try to keep it as close to 5 as possible. Never had an analysis done, where would I take my oil to have it analyzed?

Avlube (http://store.avlube.com/oilandfuanki.html) is a supporting vendor on this site, but I've always used Blackstone Labs, & will continue to do so for comparison purposes until I get done with my "experiment". ;)

Oil change intervals vary depending upon how you use the truck. If you just use it as a daily commuter your intervals are probably ok. Those that "work em" by towing heavy likely will change more often.

Interesting comment on the Mobil Delvac 1 numbers. I was considering changing to that brand. The numbers/analysis wouldn't appear to warrant the additional cost! I'll do some more research. I may just go back to Shell Rotella, seems to be a favorite on the DP. Later. JJ :)

Have not done the oil analysis yet, but I like to run synthetic in the winter (for cold start up & longer change interval, brrrr) but then switch back to Dino in the summer. Your individual Oil analysis will be the best guide, but as an example, most NASCAR guys only use synthetic for qualifying, then use dino for the race. But as discussed many times on this site, either will make your engine last a long, long time.

I changed my oil when the computer said to. DON'T do it for the first change. The oil was fine with a TBN of 5.7 @ 9635 miles. But the oil had very high silicon (sand?) which made all of the other counts out of range. Blackstone said change the oil at 3K for the next 2 oil changes before I go back to changing when the computer says

I change my oil and filter every 3000 miles. I use synthetic 5w40. I believe that if you go with extented drains and synthetic OR conventional oil and change every 3000 there is no difference. Nice clean Oil every 3000 and no worries.

Just my 2 cents ... not counting inflation!

is the Mobil 1 Delva and the Mobil 1 Truck and SUV oil the same thing?

I run 5-8k on my LB7 and that is with me using it much harder than most. I do have excellent bypass filtration and a Filtermag on it as well. Analysis is done through www.avlube.com and has come back excellent every time with the Delvac 1. I could easily go longer, but since I use it so hard, I figure it's best not to push it to find the limits. Daily driven at 500+RWHP...

The general consensus at the "Bob is the Oil Guy" site is that Truck and SUV is Delvac 1 packaged in quart containers.

Where do you get the Delvac 1. I know that WalMart carries the Mobil 1 SUV, but the idea of a 1 gallon jug makes it alot easier.

I called Mobil customer support and they had a distributor deliver 4 cases to my door step, because i could.t believe in all of Southern Cal. They only had (1) distributor.

I switched all my company big trucks over and I know I can tell a difference, they just seem to rim smoother, i know others will debate that, but I know what I feel before Delvac and what I feel after.
