ok.. 96 6.5 obdII... how do i set the IP timing with auto enginuity?

when I called them with pre-sales question they told me that.. it will lead you right through it... or give us a call.. I can walk you through it..

well.. i click on time set.. hit yes and check it.. I sure as heck don't see anything giving me instructions,.,. and I called them and they told me i need a GM service manual...

i can't seem to get rid of my tdc offset code either. I'm not a very happy camper.. if I knew it would be this much of a PITA i would have gone to the dealer...

for the record.. TDC is showing about 11.6 and TDCO is -2.8 ( why.. we put in another engine and it has not been right since..!)

-2.8 is a way too high.
Set it back to -1.94 at the maximum by rotating the pump to the passenger side.
-1.50 is a good compromise with reflash, stock value is -.050 ~ -.070

You will have to physically move the pump, the AE software can't do it (I don't think a Tech 2 could anyways), and for that, you'll need specific tools : 2 wrenches and a rotator tool.

man.. did i have to move the pump... i think the new engine came with a scribe mark and we aligned our old scribe mark to that.. way the heck off...

i finally said "#@## this" and took the pump way over to the passenger side.. (relatively speaking).. bingo.. 0.68.. so i nudged it back.. back to around 2.2

No kidding guys.. if you can see it move you probably wen too far.. so back and forth i went and finally ended up at -1.68,, OK.. I've had enough.. (maybe.. we'll see in the morning if I want to get anal about this..)

and yes.. once you clear the codes ( the tdc offset code came right back till i took drastic steps and really moved the pump... then i could to a time set and TDC.. here's what i found from mental telepathy with AE..
TDC Learn really means TDC-offset learn because when i hit that one.. the engine changed sounds and the offset changed.. did a KOKO and got the same results.. so i figured that out. ok.. time to retire my 15 mm wrenches.. and my homemade IP Tool. on to bigger and better things.

thanks
Wayne
