: why is oil commin out here?
whitesmoker6.2 08-08-2008, 01:40 PM So I was washing my truck and doing an oil change the other day, and noticed I have oil seeping out of on of my tubes where it connects to the blue clamp. Tried tightening up the clamp and it is as tight as it will get. The oil is more or less comming out and sticking to the pipe not running out of it. Should there even be oil in the tube, and why is it comming out? I cleaned it off and if it returns I guess the dealer can have it and tell me why it is doing it while they fix some other warrenty stuff.
teel23 08-08-2008, 02:24 PM I have the same problem and never could figure it out.
Bulldogger 08-08-2008, 02:38 PM Oil comes out of there because the PCV is dumping oil into the turbo. To prevent this you need a PCV relocation kit. You can build your own kit or buy one from Tony Burkheart(sp). Do a search on PCV re-route
Johnny Cetane 08-08-2008, 02:41 PM ^^^^ What he said. I did mine for about $11 and took me about 20 minutes.
lotsofmiles 08-08-2008, 02:44 PM I was at the chevy dealer today, ask to see a pic of pcv routing. He couldn't find anything on it for the lbz, only the lb7. He said no pcv on the lbz. Is this right?

Wrong...;)
whitesmoker6.2 08-08-2008, 03:00 PM so is it something GM is aware of? is there any affect on the motor? or is it normal?
Johnny Cetane 08-08-2008, 03:51 PM They know but can't/won't do anything about finding a better way. The engine oil coats the turbo blades which can't be good and is all over inside of you pipes and intercooler. It's best to reroute it.
Normal, they all do cause the pcv is routed the same way in all of them from the factory, its nothing to worry about.
lotsofmiles 08-08-2008, 08:02 PM Wrong...;)
anyone got a decent pic of the pcv on a lbz?
Robby Avery 08-08-2008, 11:55 PM Sorry I don't have a picture but all these guy's are right I rerouted mine and like I said i another thread here's an example Guy Tripp at socal diesel gave. Picture yourself running around a track and you've got a garden hose stuck in your butt and your using the other end to breathe out of now think of your truck the same way would you rather breathe your own fumes or reroute it and breathe fresh air. I personally would reroute it trust me your truck will thank you in the long run. hope this help buddy cya 'round the diesel place.
RI Chevy Silveradoman 08-09-2008, 10:54 AM Take a look here! A very professional and high quality kit. It will take care of your issue!

whitesmoker6.2 08-09-2008, 04:45 PM well I guess I will be rerouting it soon.
lotsofmiles 08-09-2008, 05:11 PM leave it to the dealership to tell me wrong. Again.
Just pulled mine of. trying to decide what to do with it. An old trick I used on another car was take it off set a quarter (thats right $0.25) and re-cap it. The quarter fits across the hole, and can't fit in the hole to the turbo.

If you wanted to mickey mouse it, a cap off a quart oil fits over the the nipple on the mouthpiece going into the turbo.:D
I did that for a quick fix on my re-route until i found a good cap.
pc_renaud 08-09-2008, 08:14 PM Depot has the rubber caps that will fit snug. They are in the hardware dept. with the rubber things you put under furniture legs. Only thing is you have to buy a 4 pack. If you need one come and see me I still have 3.
lotsofmiles 08-09-2008, 10:13 PM i'll post pics soon. got a few pieces, just couldn't get a cap tonight
DIRTYMAX 2007 08-10-2008, 11:26 AM Do you think the dealership will care if I leave the PCV reroute on when I take it in.

They probably wouldn't know the difference!
DIRTYMAX 2007 08-10-2008, 08:12 PM Don't you like how smart the technicians are at the dealership? :smashfrea
joe_zrt 08-10-2008, 11:29 PM now combine all that oil with the EGR pumping exhaust soot back into your intake. can't remember who on here has picks of a intake with miles on it, but they aren't pretty. intakes almost completely clogged up. the LB7's PCV was vented to the atmosphere, but with all the new emissions, the manufacturers are forced to do things that aren't necessarily good for the motors. i've had my truck into the dealer a few times with all the stuff on it that is in my sig, and they have never given me trouble.

clayt171 08-11-2008, 01:43 PM x2 on the reroute. It is on my list too.
Wasn't the 2007.5 the new body style with the LMM? I thought the Classic line of trucks ended before then? Just curious.
2007.5 = LMM/new body style
2007 Classic = LBZ/old body style
