: Injector Warranty Question -2005 LLY
dgaugler 08-08-2008, 01:04 PM I have 2005 LLY Durmax. I just got it back from the dealer after they had it for a month and half after 4 injectors failed.
My question is what should the warranty cover? I thought all of the injector issues would be covered by GM. But now i got a bill for over $3400. I called the dealership and they said this is because of there was water damage on the injectors and the fuel was bad. I regularly change the fuel filter and the "Water in Fuel" light has never came on. The dealership hasn't even sent the injectors back to GM, they just said they could tell there was water damage on the injectors.
I had the fuel tested by a Conoco lab and it passed just fine.
They're also trying to charge me for 3 fuel filters, and the towing bill.
What should GM cover in this situation? What should do, the dealship seems like there sticking to their guns and saying I owe $3400+?
This whole deal has been a nightmare from start to finish. If GM really wants to keep from losing sales they need to make sure their exisitng customers are taken care by the dealerships, I love the truck minus the injector issues but I'm strongly considering buying a Dodge next time because of this experience.
PoPsRacing 08-08-2008, 02:32 PM Your injectors are covered under the 5 yr 100,000 warranty if your out of the 3 yr 36,000. I think all you are responsible for is a $100 deductable. I call BS on the water damage and if it was the WIF sensor failed to do its job. Show them the lab report on your fuel and hold your ground. Do you have your truck or do they?
JC1843 08-08-2008, 05:06 PM They cannot do all that work and then decide to bill you for the repairs --unless you agreed to the $$. Something doesn't add up.
Yes, water will do a lot of damage to injectors-- and GM may not be responsible for damage caused by water.
If you already paid-- I suggest that you ask for the old injectors and filters and contact an attorney.

Hes right. You need those injectors and the test from your fuel.
Weather or not you paid and if you have the truck back is what is going to give you leverage here!
I would step above anyone that is telling you that noise and raise hell.
hihosilver 08-08-2008, 11:39 PM here we go with more warranty bull, look at the thread by speedpro on this same kind of issue
Scubamax 08-10-2008, 04:13 PM The EXACT think happen to me last month! I only had to change 2 injectors though. $2300 though! They saved a sample of the fuel and there was water in it along with some trash. I guess I have no leg to stand on! lol. If something happens like this again, I'll drop the tank and clean it out. This way it only looks like injector failure. Also, the dealership would not let me have the injectors unless I paid a core fee. I was going to have them pop tested for my own information. Was not will to pay 400 for bad injectors and another 100 to have them tested. Just gonna lick my wounds and call it a good day. By the way, if I had to push my truck to work everyday, I would still not buy a dodge! The motors are the best on the market, but it's the rest of the truck I have a problem with. Besides, who wants all that noise! lol
donna k 08-10-2008, 06:47 PM Back in April I got a load of bad fuel and lost an injector. I suspect the dealer could have tried to not cover it by blaming it on the bad fuel, but instead they took excellent care of both me and my truck. It was covered 100% under the GM injector warranty, no deductible, and a loaner car provided. They even hand washed 5000 miles of winter road grime off the truck for me. That was Robideaux Motors (GMC) in Coeur d'Alene, Id.

txdutt 08-10-2008, 09:00 PM If it was water damage you can file a claim under your car insurance-comprehensive coverage. Keep ALL of your repair paperwork and any fuel receipts you have to back up your claim. It's worth a shot!

In my home state of NC, it is unlawful for any garage to do any repair work and charge more than 10% above the original good-faith estimate without both parties first agreeing upon the excess charges. In fact, they can't even hold your vehicle for refusal to pay more than the OGF estimate + 10% if they proceed and cannot charge for reassembly if one decides to take their vehicle elsewhere and it must be capable of leaving in the same condition as it arrived in.
I had a shop try that "sudden surprise" and the dude said he'd just have to hold my truck if I didn't pay. I told him go ahead, try to keep the truck - and I'd have him arrested for unlawful seizure of my property, too. I showed him the NCGS, his written estimate, and his temper went through the roof. I got my vehicle out of that place - but I knew he couldn't have done the work for less than half again the original estimate and was prepared to pay, so I paid him that - but I didn't HAVE to. His bill was more than twice his original written estimate and while in the shop, each time I'd ask about cost all he'd tell me was, "It won't be that much more...but he didn't know the total," and he'd brush me off.
I like his work, but I "teached" him a lesson in quality customer care secured by the hand of the Judiciary.
skyhigh4by 08-12-2008, 05:30 PM I had a friend of mine have the same problems with his 06 dodge. Injector and turbo failure and the dealer blamed it on bad fuel. They claimed to have fixed it and agreed to split the bill with my friend. The truck still smoked and ran rough when he got it back and he took it back saying that there were engine problems and he wanted a new one but they still stuck to saying it was fixed and told him the smoke was oil in the exhaust from the turbo going. He contacted his insurance company and they talked to dodge. He now still drives the truck and his insurance company has given him a one year warranty on the motor stating that if anything happens to it they will replace the whole thing.
Turbobruce 08-12-2008, 06:43 PM Just another reason to hate GM. I trully hope they go out of business.
