I have a 08 ltz and it looks like in the back ground of the tach there is some sort of light that may indicate 4x4 is engauged, however, the only light that comes on is the tiny one on the rotary dial. Is this it?

The bean counters at GM disable the dash indicator for 4wd when the pushbutton 4wd option is ordered:mad:.(Like he said^.)

Has anyone figured a way to enable it, around here in the winter if could be a blizzard when you park the truck and 50 degrees the next day. I can definatly see myself not noticing the dinky light and be up to highway speeds before I notice it. (stright line from my house to the interstate)

Things are getting ****ing rediculous with all of the "beancounting" @ GM. Everytime you turn around they're deleating something elce from our trucks but charging more and more. First it was the underhood lights, footwell lights, sun visor mirror lights, glove box lights, coat hooks,.... the list goes on and on......now this???? WHERE DOES IT END?? With GM going bankrupt I guess........hope you're reading this forum GM !

I think that my 4x4 disengages when I park the truck, dont you have to push the button again to get it to go back on?

maybe Im wrong about this but I dont remember ever taking it out, and its not in now. I thought the only time you had to push the 2 wheel button again was when you wanted to disengage while still running the engine.

I too have an 08 and thought that the manual had stated that there was an indicator light in the dash somewhere.
I too would love to know if someone has mad a mod to make the dash gauage light function as well as the little light in the selector wheel, in my truck in the daylight can not tell what postion the selector is in.

IIRC someone once posted it was a Quadrasteer indicator light. They wanted to hook the 4 wheel indicator into it, and were successful doing it. Sounds like a good idea to me.

There's a thread here somewhere that states how to make that little light thingy in the cluster light up...I haven't searched yet but I know it's here...I recall a few people hooking it up on the NBS trucks...

All the push button stuff with the fancy lights is OK when everything is up and running. I miss the old manual 2 to 4/high-low range levers that gave a mechanical link to the drive train. Never a doubt what was going on.

I've read that too. The symbol is right under the 3,000 mark on the tach (at least on our LTZ) It would be cool if it worked.

The link below at post #3 shows how to enable the 4WD dash light on the 01/02's, and also 03's and later.
I'd assume the NBS IP is different.

EDIT :  Links not working.
