Going to be getting my new downpipe on this friday along with my new AFE Stage II Air Intake.... still debating the module/programmer thing fellas, your posts help me out and i read almost everyone comments. Best and only support group I ever need.

My question is this, do any D-max's come without a Cat Converter? Mine's a 2003, and the Kitty Cat is coming off, just looking for some kind of excuse to give the bad guys if I get stopped (although I'm not scared... i swear)

they started in '03 with the cat and egr.

For California, they actually started in 2002. Some New England states have adopted the same pollution requirements for new vehicles that CARB has mandated for Californina. Which is probably why yours has the CAT and EGR. Model Year 2001 was the only year for California DMAX's where the CAT and EGR were not part of the emission package.

For DMAX's equipped with Federal Emission packages (spec'd by EPA), Model years 2001 through 2004 (pre LLY), did not have CAT or EGR.

As stated above, all Federal emission equipped DMAX's will not have a CAT/ EGR until mid 2004 (when LLY was introduced). This includes all states except CA and a couple New England states.

Good! That means I don't have to, uh, violate my cat with a broomstick, as someone so eloquently put it on here..

Here is the break down for all of you

2001- 2004 LB7 federal emission package = no cat
2001 LB7 Ca emissions = no cat
2002- 2004 LB7 CA and NorthEast emissions = cat
2004 up LLY all = cat

I'm a bit confused. I got my 03 Dmax in July of 03. Not any chance of it being an 04 is there?? Oh, and it has a cat...and I'm in TEXAS!!! :help:

I had to take a Train to Texas to buy my new truck in 2002. I did not want the catylitic
converter....... plus the truck was $10,000 cheaper!

The train ride was cool..... but the truck ride home was better :cool2:

Raining here in Northern California

2002 bought in massachusetts, no kitty. not like it would have mattered. just waiting to see if the state passes no aftermarket exhaust law here. supposedly ban will effect exhaust previously installed, dont know truth on that

Do like I did and go to your local dealer and order the pipe without the cat. Bolts right on

2004 GMC Sierra. I had mine removed in CA since diesels dont have to be smogged anyway. I feel sorry for the new emmisions diesels that have to get checked.
