Anybody else have this same problem? I leave my truck outside because it doesnt fit in the garage (well it does, but a very tight fit). So, my sprinkler system runs every other day and has begun to leave mineral deposits on the truck and in some places where it drips down, it has built up these deposits. My question is, is there a product that will keep the deposits from sticking or something that takes them off easily. Hand washing does not remove them at all. I was thinking CLR, but I do not know if that will harm the paint. BTW, didnt know where to post this.

This happened on our boat and we used a wax/polish called "Liquid Glass" it works pretty good you apply it and it turns to a haze and you wipe it clean and it doesn't leave residue on black pieces!

try the new liquid ice , its clear like water and simple to use.... do you have a water softener ? my friend has very hard water and if you use his water and do not dry off immediately it will leave mineral deposits...best of luck...

The only way to get the mineral deposits out of the paint is by mechanical means. I use a Porter & Cable 7424 polisher and Pinnicle polishes and waxes. I've always polished and waxed my vehicles once a year in the spring and that is enough to keep the finish looking new. Check out their product line on Autogeek.net they will have what you need. The only other option is to take it to a professional detailer and pay to have someone else do it. But the first thing I would do is reset your sprinkler clock to come on when your at work. Do what ever it takes to keep that hard water off your truck. There's no product out there that will repel water spots for any length of time. ;)

I wouild think Vineger would take the spots off - it's lime from hard water most likely. Have you thought of changing the timer for the zone(s) that sprays your truck so it runs during the week when you are at work too.

Vinegar is a great tool for water spots. I think you should get out in the garden and fix the sprinklers. That could be a start to future problems once you fix the current one.

This is the only solution. Vinegar can't cut it, at least not where I live. The minerals etch the clear coat, and the polish will cut/blend it out.

I have the same problem and use a product called C.L.R. (Calcium, lime, rust).

As far as removing the spots, I don't know. BUT as far as keeping them from recurring, try the liquid glass as mentioned above, Mabey the pre-cleaner by the same brand will also remove the spots, either way it's a heck of a product and I will proby never use anything else again, just make sure you follow the instructions. a paint pre cleaner is a must. Astro sheild is almost the exact same as liquid glass but it's alitle harder to find, but somewhat cheaper where I live.

Why are the sprinklers hitting the truck? Can't they be adjusted to not hit it?

Depends on where you park.... for instance where I work and my assigned parking spot there was grass....

Will a clay bar take out water spots? I know that CLR works great on my windows at the house, but I'd be a little nervous about putting it on my paint! I'm in aggrement with letting the sprinklers run while you're at work! I HATE water spots!
