Hey guys, I've had this truck for just over three years, and no problems until now. Last week, it started throwing a P0601 code(internal control module memory checksum error). It's come up about 5 times and I can clear it with my code reader. A couple of weeks ago I did change the batteries (got a good deal on some red tops). Started throwing the code about a week later, so I put the old batteries back in, still throws P0601 intermittantly. I presume this is an ECU problem, could anything external to the ECU be causing it (wiring issues, connectors, voltage problems?)
Doesn't seem to affect performance or driveability.
Of course, truck is a couple months out of the 3/36 warranty. Is it possible that this is covered under the emissions waranty??
Ever heard of this happening before?
Thanks-----Steve

If your still in your 3/36 warranty it should be covered in the bumper to bumper with no deductable, I'd bring it to the dealer.
The squeaky wheel always gets the oil....

No--------it's out of the 3/36 warranty by 6 weeks. I was just wondering if it was covered under the seven yr emmissions warranty. It dropped the same p0601 code twice on me today, so it's doing it pretty regularly. I'm afraid to drive it on a trip, I figure once I get out of town, the ecu will take a shiite on me, leave me stranded.:(

I would check with the dealer who takes care of your truck for you. You are not that much out. A good dealership and a smart service manager will step up to the plate and handle it for you looking for the return business in the future. It wouldn't hurt to ask. All they can do is say not under warranty and you know where you stand.:D

X2, hopefully they will help you. Not sure about the emissions thing but i know some of the electronics is covered under the emission warr. but that is only determined by the dealership when the plug your code information into their "all knowing" warranty decision meter.
good luck, you shouldnt get any grief with a small problem like that.
