I noticed no matter how much money I spent upgrading my stereo, it never sounded as good as my wifes Volvo. That's because of the placement and direction of the front tweeters, you can test this yourself by placing a magazine or something to reflect the drivers side tweeter sound towards yourself. The sound separation will be much wider and nicer with higher frequencies reaching yor left ear. So I built a removable sound reflector out of credit card sized piece of 1/8" acrylic. I folded the acrylic with a heat gun to a 40 degree angle near one end, used a sander to create a cut-out for the speaker and finally, used Velcro to attach it to the pillar. It really makes a difference!

I often wondered why they aimed the tweeters towards each other instead of at the passenger and driver or bounce off the windshield. Since I used to work at a local custom stereo shop that is one of the first things I noticed and questioned. I guess GM doesn't know that high frequencies are directional while low frequencies are unidirectional.

good, inexpensive fix there

Thanks Cracker Jack! Immediately after reading your post I made two sound reflectors as per your instructions. Boy what a difference!! I now know my tweeters actually work............
