i happen to live 'on the border' between regions that have $1000 differences in current incentives, and about 200 miles away from another region that is offering an additional $250 discount.
so does it matter where i buy the vehicle? is it worth it to travel a bit and save a bunch?
btw, i am already a gms-employee discount buyer and have no trade-in and have good relationships with local dealerships, just not good enough to pass on $1000-1500 in savings for a day's drive or a $150 flight.
gmbuypower site says where i reside is the deciding factor.......is that a hard and fast rule?
thanks

It was when I bought mine. The incentive money is based on the address you register the vehicle at when purchasing. My case was I live in Florida and bought the truck from the Texas dealer where my brother works. That dealer offered the employee discount to me and I wanted to help my brother. The Texas region was offering 2000.00 in rebate incentives while at that time the Florida region only offered 1000.00. If I had used my Florida address the dealer claimed I would have to accept the 1000.00 rebate. However since my mother also lives in Texas I was able to claim that as my address and get the extra incentive. The only minor hassle was doing it this way meant I had Texas plates. Once those plates expire at the end of the year I will have to register it in Florida and get new plates.
Hope this helps.

thanks brad
looks like there's no way around it with the gmac cash as it requires financing with them which means credit application which means address with zip code
turns out if i lived 2 miles south, in the next county, i would be eligible for two regions and could pick and choose whichever had the best option available. in this case, that means $1000 cash difference!
i will be getting a p.o. box there in the next day or so to make it work out in the future.

That is what I would do. You can get a p.o. box in the other county for about 15.00 for 6 months. Then when you buy the vehicle give them that address. Within 6 months you will have recieved all the paper work you need and can cancel the po box.
BTW I just finished refinancing mine with the credit union and got a much better rate than GMAC was offering. I did the GMAC financing only to get the extra 1000.00 in rebates.
A bit of a hassle to go through the process but was worth the extra rebate and then the lower interest rate.

GMAC will not let you use a PO box as your address. They can't repo your truck from a PO box
