I keep the PPE on level 1 almost all the time. Here lately ive been noticing some pretty nasty timing rattle if I get on it hard from a stop. This anything to be worried about?

Did it just start doing this?

my lmm had some nasty timing rattle just off an idle untill the engine got hot just trying to back out of a parking spot it sounded like a powerstroke, this was with a tune 2 on a race tuner. never did it with the non race turner

Yeah come to think of it its only really noticable when the engine isnt completely warm.

I had the ECM update done last week. Drove 3-4 days with the stock tune. Updated my PPE to the latest firmware this morning. Flashed level 2 to the truck.

Sounded fine at idle. Give it a little gas to pull out of the garage and it sounded like a Powerstroke.

Didn't do that on stock tune after ECM update. Didn't do it pre-ECM update on PPE level 2.

same here, I have been trying alot of different tunes.. efi live, westers garage, duramax tuner, quadzilla... and they all seem to have clatter at certain points under light throttle and most evident when the motor isnt at 220.

I havent used my tuner yet, nor do I have any experiance with them as this is my first diesel, is this something to be worried about or is this normal diesel rattle?

I am sure PPE checks this, maybe they could let us know if this becuase of the ecm update or anything to worry about?

It is normal for the engine sound to be louder when engine is cold comparied to when the engine is fully warmed up.

That's not the complaint, it's that after the dealer ecm reflash and your tuner the trucks now louder.

Dan thanks for chiming in, but what concerns me is that a few of these customers had your product before the ecm reflash and had a baseline, and then after the reflashthey had a different sound to their rigs using your product, I have just purchased one your tuners and have yet to install it I have just been busy, but what I am looking for is a warm fuzzy that your company has analyzed the gm reflash and have found it completely compatiable with your hand held tuners, concerned customer..Josh

Cold Engine - Pre-ECM update, Stock tune, no rattle at idle or under throttle.

Cold Engine - Pre-ECM update, PPE - Level 2, no rattle at idle or under throttle

Cold Engine - Post ECM update, Stock Tune, no rattle at idle or under throttle.

Cold Engine - Post ECM update, PPE - Level 2, no rattle at idle, but BIG rattle under throttle.

ive got an 08 lmm with ppe hot race, level 1 boost stays in 30-32 range, levels 2-5 boost ranges up to 44psi with auto meter guages... 44 psi is that normal? everyone ive talked to says its going to damage something, your tech rick told me its perfectly normal... also when towing in level 2 a light load... rhino 2 four wheelers the truck seems to snap like its losing fuel or shuting down.... cruising at 60 70 mph. lastly, unloaded level 3 70 mph pullout to pass or accel and the truck boggs down losing power and then dump enuff black smoke to stop traffic.... is all this normal? or is something wrong, programmer hasnt been same since updated...

I like it being a little louder. Got tired of people asking if I had rebadged a gas truck.

I have never heard of "shaking" issue?

The revision on the timing was for loud cold starts. The boost tables were adjusted for the Race customers who are having high boost (over 38 psi). There is no charge for the updates.

Dan can we run the current tune without any harm to our rigs and send our tuner back when its convienent to us? or would you reccomend that we send thm back as soon as possible? thanks, Josh

Dan ,I sent my tuner in about three weeks ago to get the reflash update. I have not put it back in the truck yet. I would like to know if I have to send it back again. I called and nobody seemed to know what I was talking about as far as the second update. How can I tell?
