i have an edge programmer and it has been shutting off which i read was common among the older models, he tells me its because over time the timing "noise" gets louder and gives the programmer false read outs. then he told me my unit EJC1000 ver 4.81i is out of warranty, but they can replace the entire unit (with attitude moniter) for $350 because i already own a unit. i thought i read it was free, but i guess only for the slightly newer models still under warranty? just want to make sure before i think about dropping that kinda cash on a new unit. and btw what does a new unit cost without prev. ownership?

ss2500hd,
I had the same issue last year. They told me that it depends on what style connection you have for your juice module under the hood. The older style had wires that went directly into the unit. The newer version of that series had a plug in style. I was lucky and had the newer one so they fixed it free. Edge told me the same thing $350 if I had the older style. Not too nice to charge $700-800 and then a couple years later another $350. But then again I think Edge sold to MSD or someone like that a year or two ago so I'm not sure if they care about the bad taste they leave in a few mouths. Good luck.
