Since it seems to be the subject for the day, has anyone ever had thier warryanty voided, for any reason?

Just curious

Yes

For fueling from a auxillary fuel tank mounted on the truck bed.

You have got to explain that one better.

What, when, where, who?????????????/

Let me guess...

Gravity feed; no filter between aux tank and primary???

They can't void for that. So every landscaper or excavator has tank to fuel equipment is going to get there warranty voided. I don't believe that.

They can do whatever they want. Just depends on if they can make it stick. I dare venture to say that GM has deeper pockets than the most successful landscaping proprietor and therefore has the edge come litigation time.

Besides it's dumb to NOT have a filter. Anyway he said auxiliary tank NOT refueling tank, as we know there is a distinction.

I have read where a guy was taken to task by the dealer for utilizing an aux tank with no filter when the contaminants that killed his injectors were found in the auxiliary tank---metal slag from the welded metal tank. Anyway we are not covered under warranty for bad fuel...if that is THEIR determination.

I really don't think you know what you are talking about. Most contractors have these tanks and my guess is 90 % of people are buying diesel trucks for work. So gm is going to piss off their main diesel client base, I really don't see that happening. Also there is no way for them to tell if you are using the tank to fuel the truck or a skid steer. I guess the next thing you tell us you will void you warranty for fueling out of a yellow diesel can.

Bottom line is GM will not cover you for bad fuel. I feel I must state that again because you fail to engage substantively, with talking about different containers and such.

Perhaps you need to understand the context in which I am speaking... Contaminants found in the aux tank>>>contaminants as part of the aux tank construction>>>>no filtration>>>>contaminants determined to be the culprit of dead injectors in the example.

Your suggestion that GM will not void the warranties of "their main diesel client base" is noted, but without substance because it is an outlandish suggestion and you knew it when you typed it.

When it's all said and done--after the warranty is voided let's say--it's up to the consumer to get his VIN cleared of the voided warranty from the system.

What can happen is people don't read so well or don't listen so well. When GM finds contaminants in the fuel system and denies that there is any problem with the GM fuel filtration system it's not GM's problem. Some folks will simply be denied warranty work for that particular item...best case scenario, which too can be distinct from the warranty being voided altogether. Others think that their warranty was voided or denied because of a auxiliary tank or whatever when in fact like I said it was contaminants in the fuel. And if the contaminants happen to be say of the same substance as the aux tank is constructed from...well there you go.

I'm not saying this is the case but NOT filtering between AUXILARY tank displays ignorance, IMO.

Let's see if dyindmax will illuminate us.
