: Tranny Gave up again!
PEVOMAN 03-02-2005, 09:25 AM I have a 02 Dmax CC swb w/53k on it. The tranny was rebuilt 3 months ago... now it's reving between shifts, downshifting very hard & delyed Hard shifting into rev. At first it did it just a couple of times...but it's All the time now! But the check engine light has not come on. Any ideas???
GGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR this is starting to get very annoying!!!! Iv'e herd nothing but good about allys...now that i got one, it's crappy WTF??? No...i did not abuse it either.<!-- / message -->
Scott C 03-02-2005, 09:58 AM 53k is way to early. I have 117k on the original and it still works good. They should replace it for free under your 100k warranty
lakingslayer 03-02-2005, 10:00 AM Who did the rebuild? Is it possible that they only replaced the worn parts but didn't fix the actual problem that caused the failure? I'm sorry you are having a bad run. This is a rare problem. Good luck.

Ally only has a 3yr 36Kmi. warranty. I've heard that the NSBU switch is covered under the emissions warranty of 100Kmi.
I do agree that the 2nd time failing at 53Kmiles is not normal.
dmaxalliTech 03-02-2005, 10:06 AM The original problem may have been missed when it was fixed the first time. What was it doing then and what was fixed?
PEVOMAN 03-02-2005, 01:06 PM It kicked out a PO700 & 734 code before + c1 & c2 were somewhat glazed ...it would'nt move hardly at all. This trans is warranteed to the dealer by the tranny shop, for they worked on it BEFORE i bought it. So that makes a total of 3 times it's been down in the laset 7+/- months
Mike L. 03-02-2005, 03:18 PM P0734 is incorrect ratio 4th gear = C2 clutch slip. Are you running a program? Was the converter replaced?
PEVOMAN 03-02-2005, 03:55 PM all stock trans. Running hypertech at 70hp. normal driving when it happened. No drag racing,.. or Burn outs,...hell i have yet to pull Anything with it. Overall i really baby it.
dmaxalliTech 03-02-2005, 04:03 PM Time to look for a qualified shop and a shift kit.
PEVOMAN 03-02-2005, 05:58 PM Speaking of quailifed shop...anybody know any that are Quailifed to work on allys & install suncoast products central tx. ? Currently my truck is layed up at Eagle trans in Austin Tx.
LBZrcks 03-02-2005, 07:27 PM The dealer closest to me does warranty work on ally's that have more than 36k, or atleast he did for my friends truck.

PEVOMAN 03-04-2005, 03:34 PM Update...tranny shop found a high pressure selenoid at fault + found a bad bearing (again) I don't know if it's the same as was replaced before. Tranny place is being very vague to me as to the details. Censored This is REALLY starting the piss me off. It will be next week before it's fixed...again. This time i'm demading ALL the records as to EXACTLY whats been done to it before.(since the tranny is warranted to the dealer, i haven't seen any paperwork on the repairs...BUT THAT WILL CHANGE) GRRRRRR....Note: Dealer has been excellent in working with me on this though & will supply me with all records pertaining to the tranny when i get it back. They even furnished me with a rental till i get my truck back.
ratlover 03-04-2005, 03:56 PM Might have installed a thrust bearing backwards. That causes all kindsa bad **** to happen. I would want o see the insideds of the trans that they are putting back in or ask to get a new trans.
dmaxalliTech 03-04-2005, 04:02 PM You can also by law have all the old parts back or at least your entitled to inspect them if they must be returned for warranty or core.
PEVOMAN 03-09-2005, 02:40 PM UPDATE: Got my truck back....seems all is well(for a few months anyway) Dealer made me a deal. Anytime in the next 18 months, if my ally decides to konk out on me again...the dealer(-my $100.00 deduct) will haggle with the extended warrantee adjuster to totally replace(not just fix) my tranny. If the adjuster will not opt to follow the dealers advice & only replace the affected parts...the dealer will annie up the difference for another tranny all together. Sounds fair to me. So far it hasn't cost me anything yet.

I hope you got that in writing. I hope it stays fixed this time. Good Luck!
