Anybody had any troubles with the heat/ac blower? Turned mine on this morning and smelled like electrical fire, will only run on setting 5. I had it at the mechanics yesterday to install a boost gauge and then this happens. Could they have damaged something yesterday while installing the gauge?

I had this happen on my 2002...I can not remember what the dealer called the part, but it is like a fuse directly bhind the dash that runs your blower. They just replaced that, took about 20 min. I had the same symptoms with the horrible smell and it would only blow air on the highest setting.

Sounds like it could be a failed variable resister, only allowing the fan to work on high(no resistence).

most likey the blower motor resistor went bad. Pretty common problem these days. Its actually a circuit board now instead of the old coiled wires.

thats what the mechanic said it was, the resistor. Is this fairly common? i would assume so since i got a few replies.
