Just bought the Bully Dog PMT and really enjoy the power/economy options. As I am reading here and getting more into this I see there are other "tunes" available in the tune library. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=177 How are these programmed into the truck? Did I just waste a bunch of money? What kind of programmer is needed to program the tunes into the truck?

you need either efi live or hp tuners , they are computer programs lap top based that comes withy interface cable to hook into the obd port, weither you wasted your money is up to you, i could never go back to a store bought tuner, but it takes a long time to learn how to tune well, when i first started i thought this is not to hard , it's like math on the surface it seems simple but the more you learn you relize how little you know :D the buly dog will treat you well but if you want more tuning yourself is were it's at, the sky is the limmit the only thing to hold you back is hard parts wich is why its not for every one you can f***k things up if your not carefull but its hard to scew up that bad, best of luck to ya .

OK, I had the BD PMT. Got it because I liked the ondemand feature and monitor. Was nice but not as advertised +220hp since Crazy Larry got yanked. Truck Customizers .com took it back for a full refund after four months (!!) because BD still has not come out with the tune as promised. Now that's customer service! Tried to load the CL program on a Triple Dog but couldn't get that to work either.
Now have the PPE with Quadzilla monitor. EFI has more control and options but looked a bit to involved for me right now. (Would have got the PPE from Truck Customizers but didn't cary it. Extreme Diesel and Grimm had the best prices.) PPE doesn't have the on demand control of BD but EVERYTHING else is better. Better tunes, seems like a smoother power curve, less smoke much more power. Only took it to level 4 (+220) of 10 (+400 with the +2)so far though until I get the tranny done.
If BD comes back with the high end tunes and better tunes the PMT will be a good option again for us that don't need more than 250hp or so.
Anyway thanks for your help and input. We tried. But the PPE smokes BD right now!
