I have a 5sd. ally now but when I buy an aftermarket one I am wondering if I can just buy a 6sd ally instead and then pick up a TCM for a 6sd from either kennedy or tts or wherever I can get one? anyone know if this will actually work?

I had a 5 speed ally then went with the Suncoast tranny with the 6 speed conversion kit. It works great, and they give you a bit of a break on the conversion kit when you buy both tranny and kit.

He is talking about buying an actual already 6 speed Allison and is wondering if he can just get a TCM for it that is made for a 6 speed. No I don't think so cause from what I've read there is alot more to deal with than just swapping tcm's. Gotta change more electronics and such. It sounds like we pretty much are stuck with getting the 5 to 6 conversion from Suncoast.
